    Default I'm searching for a career.

    I'm twenty and I'm thinking of prospective careers. I don't know much about the working world, so I'm throwing out there what it is I want to do.

    What I want to do;

    I want to make $30 in an industrial area. My position is called a 'ticker' or something similar. What I will be doing is standing around with a clipboard ticking off containers, cars or piles of wood. I want there to be a lot of time to socialize and I don't want to have much responsiblity. I want flexible work hours and a union. I don't want to have to answer to a manager and I want to be able to spend a lot of time doing other things than ticking.

    Please provide me with some input about what it's like to be a ticker and any experiences you've had as one.

    What you are looking for is consulting in project management.

    I guess if you want to be incredibly lazy and useless, a union makes a lot of sense.

    That isn't a career, that is a slack job.

    I'm sure somebody has to tick off everything that comes in. I don't want to have to focus, I want to look at something and add a tick mark to it's number. It's sounds like a respectable job and one which is secure.

    So who takes the responsibility if not you nor a manager?

    I'd want to put my board onto a desk and have someone else double check the ticking, like an assistant.

    Get a warehouse job.

    The closest thing you are talking about is being a Shipping Receiver. However they do more than just "tick things off a list".

    Seriously though. You are a moron.

    So you want an assistant to hold the responsibility.
