    Default Best Noodle house....

I have to thank ChrisNg for introducing to the wonders of Pho, I am now a fully fledged pho addict, needing my fix at least twice a week...
But among my group of rogues, we often disagree on where to eat and what place to go, it seems we all have our favourite noodle house, but I have only tried a few places so I will post a poll , if I don't put your fave place up there be sure to post the name/location...
So I have tried Pho Kim, its a good place, and they don't even have to take my order anymore, they know its #24 as soon as I walk in.....Pretty good size meal, very quick service.
Bagaloc... I like the quantity of the food, but some people are put off that the meals are served cold or luke warm at best, but their waitress's are knockouts...The tea is pre-steeped.
Oriental Pheonix : Good food, but not much of it, I could have eaten 3 orders of grilled pork and rice vermicelli with ease.. Their portions are about half the size of everyone elses
17thave sw and 5st, can't remember the name of the place, but good food and service, just the parking sucks...Max

    Also..
Anyone know of Japanese restaraunt that actually has real Japanese people cooking and serving the food. for the life of me I can't find the real thing..
Wasabi, The waitress was chinese for sure, could not hear the chef speak loudly enough for me to discern his origins..
    Cherry Bento :Korean...
    Kyoto 17: Chinese..
Shakiji: Chinese staff the last time I was there..good food ..
    Japanese village: Chinese...
    Shabuzan Korean.
    Soba Ten : Not sure....

Pho So 1 used to be good, but it's REALLY gone downhill and gotten more expensive too...

Somebody keeps telling me about some crazy good Pho place in the NW across from T&T, but I've never actually tried it.

For an authentic Japanese restaurant, try Wa's on Centre St and 16 Ave N. Also, most of the waitresses and staff at Hana Sushi on 4 St and 18th Ave SW are Japanese.

    Hana is predominantly Japanese...
Best pho in Calgary is Pho Kim. But best Pho I have ever had was in Paris believe it or not, only cause so many Vietnamese immigrated there and they have as many pho shops as they have cafe.

Best all you can eat sushi is this joint in NYC, the sashimi is so fresh, as if they just grabbed it form the ocean and the servings are by far the biggest I have ever seen. If you ever goto NYC goto a place called Yuka on 81st and 3rd on the east side. Will be worth it.

Best sushi I've had is at Sushi Bar Miki in Montgomery, by the Safeway. Definitely japanese, and cozy. (Not so hot for large gatherings though, cause the place is so tiny )

Out of that poll I would choose Bagolac is the better choice. But the Best Pho is PHO RANG DONG in the ghetto Forest Lawn
where Jays supermarket used to be. They now have Pho Ga (Chicken)

2nd: Pho Binh Minh on 17 AVE SE

3rd: A good restaurant that serves more than pho is Noodle World, located in Little Saigon Mall also on 17 AVE SE

There is also a Pho place in downtown, forgot what's it called but it's beside Banh Mi Thi Thi for you guys that know.

Hehe.. I am more of a Katsu Don or beef Don eater than a sushi eater, truth be known, I can't stand the smell of fish...Which means I don't eat alot of sushi, the odd california roll with a ton of wasabi maybe...My GF has made me some Japanese curry dishes that are superb, they don't taste nearly as good though when ordered at some of the establishments I listed..I will have to try those places, thanks for the info..Maxt

I like Pho Hoai. The original is in Chinatown just under Treasures of China and apparently they just opened one in Southland near Jack Astors and stuff.

    Yeah, they are not bad.

Pho Pasteur is good too, and CHEAP!

I had Sashimi at Fuji Yama (can you tell I work for Telus, haha, I know every restaurant in like a 3 block radius) and it was exceptional. VERY expensive considering what I have had in Vancouver, but the Tuna just melts in your mouth.

As far as the rest of the city,

    -Bagolac =
    -Pho Kim =
    -Phong VI =
-Pho So 1 = So So
-The little one in T&T mall is good, went there many a times. Thanks Nav
-Ho Lan = but at 2am, I dont complain much

Thats all I can remember right now.

OH, and Pho Blows in E-Town

A good place for sushi (at least in my opinion) is the Sumo Sushi Bar and Restaurant in Eau Claire Mall. Waiters/Waitresses are predominantly caucasian or japanese, but ALL chefs and food handlers are japanese, at least as far as I could see and hear

On 17th Ave SE in the Little Saigon Mall around 48th Street? There is a Pho place called Pho Dau Bao, something like that, very very tasty!
