Get the advanced form online and go to the office. Saves a lot of time for renewals.
It took about 7 weeks for mine, but that was when there was that large demand last year. Going to the office would speed up the process alot.
Hey, do we need a passport when we drive across the US border? I know by air we have to have a passport, but I'm not sure what the rule is for driving.
To anyone drove to the States in the last couple of months... can you let us know what the current policy is? Thx!
Go online and complete the simplified renewal form, then print it out. (Do not complete the form by hand!) Take it down to the passport office and show your completed online form to the commissioner. You will be given a ticket starting with a C. This lineup moves much faster than A tickets (hand written forms). This way, you should get your passport within 2 weeks.
heloc that shit

I went to the passport office to renew mine about a month ago and it took a couple weeks for them to get back to me. You'll save yourself some time by filling out the online application.
And no you don't need a passport when driving across the border.

Nice! Sounds like my long weekend in the US will be a go! Thx for the response man!
No problem, but make sure you have two pieces of i.d. (ie. driver's license, birth certificate). You don't need a passport but it makes your life much easier. The border guards will still drill you, especially the American ones. They are real dickheads, but I suppose that's their job.Originally posted by cdnsir

Starting next year passports will be required to drive across so I would get your passport anyways
do this simplified version. the original passport documents are i think 3 pages, but this simplified version is only 2 pages. you don't need a professional to sign anything. My parents just did this, took just under 2 weeks to receive it.Originally posted by lint
