Robert has some really nice stuff and for the price you can't beat that kind've thing.. The other guy is 3x more expensive at parts..

I have shot alongside with Roberto. He is a really nice guy and honestly wants to please and cater to you. That being said, his style is more traditional; he's been doing it for a while and that appears to be his comfort zone. At that time, he was shooting with a dual D70 setup. (though he also had a D2X, he preferred the D70. He's probably upgraded since though) His flash technique is very basic (he typically uses a stofen on a sb800, even outdoors) which to me, is limiting in creating some really dramatic images. But his work is solid and will get the job done. Just not the ultra journalistic style with crazy angles and unique posing.

I have never heard of Franco Gonzalez though. But browsing his website, I don't see anything truly spectacular that warrants a huge price increase over Roberto.

Have you considered picking a closer photographer and flying him/her out there? I get inquiries for mexico/dominican/cuba weddings quite often, so it's not an uncommon thing.

WOW! Small world! Thanks for your input!

I think we have to risk using a local PV photographer. Flying someone down there would be to expensive.

LOL I don't think there's too many out there that possess your dramatic lighting abilities...
You have a couple of photos that are great... you must be very good at photoshop!
