    Default N/A modifications

Just thought I would share some info/experiences with the community about my build so far, future, etc.

I have mostly used various Honda parts in my build so far.
Intake and DC sports raceheader, Hondata IMG, and AEM pulleys got me 20whp over stock.
    Got K-pro, gained 4whp.
    Added 2.5" exhaust, got 4whp.
Then I added type-rcams, and manifold.
This was good for 10whp over the type-s cams and manifold.
Then I went to SSR header, got 9whp.
Then I went to the RBC(07 civic si) manifold.
    That got me another 9whp.
Car is making 205whp on Tecmotion's dyno.

Now I have new cams waiting for install, and my new 3" exhaust.
Hopefully have dyno results in a week, waiting on retainers.
Hoping to hit 220whp, not sure if it's going to happen.
S/c rsx hit 238whp at 11psi, another hit 259whp at 9psi with s/c cams, ported blower, better exhaust.
Most turbo type-s' hit 235-245whp on about 8-10 lbs of boost.

Stock type-s puts down 148whp on the same dyno.

I need more power to be able to launch on slicks properly, and to pull through 4th better once I get there.
Hoping to see good gains between 6-9000 rpm.
i'll post pics later of the new parts.

    Horrible.
I could only do a 15.7 here with an intake, my buddy did the same.
I got a 15.1 in edmonton with the mods that got me 170whp(intake,pulleys,dcrh,IMG)
I'm sure a better driver could do a mid-15 here, but it wouldn't be easy.

N/A is BEST if you know what you're doing. Chris definetely knows what he's doing.

Very impressive indeed Chris, cant wait to see that beast on the track next year.

If I can hit 218-220whp, I'll be looking for a [email protected] on a good night.
    Likely run 13.5's more consistently.
You gonna be out next year?

this proves how much patience and dedication is needed when tackling an N/A project, clearly the k-pro was not bought for the outright power gain, but instead to allow for proper tuning of future engine mods. A little crazy when you consider the $1000 price tag.

Great looking project Chris, it's great that you are having sucess at the track too.

Yes, that is the peak number.
It got me 20whp in the midrange though.
You are right, it was bought as a necessity for later.
I've attached the graph from when we tuned it vs. untuned.
    No parts changed, just ecu.
You can see in the middle how much better it was. It was a whole different car.

Ofcourse I'm gonna be out there, I'm kinda starting to give up on the drag racing, but euro_racer is putting bad ideas into my head, and now my heart is set on BOOST. but I'd also really like to try auto-x next year.

What a guy. Can't argue with the bang/buck of turbo.
I'm going to try auto-x also, should be fun.

Some may say that the SSR header was expensive, but here is the graph showing the gains it got me..

So most guys in the states run 15.0 on all stock.
Few did 14.8's etc., but by and large 15 flat seems the average
    for a bonestock type-s.

As for modded, I'm #11 on the list for n/a drag times on Clubrsx.
There aren't many k20's in the top 10, mostly k24 hybrids.
11,12,13 are seperated by 3/1000ths of a second!!!
Chris Dye is fastest with a 12.3@115.

That's not bad at all. Turbo setups can be cheaper, but those cheap turbo setups are never reliable.

    Yeah, I agree.
Cheap turbo kits are few and far between for this car, and they don't put out a ton of power either.
I think this car done right with turbo would be a blast, but you have to build it to get serious with 11:1 compression ratio.
I've done a ton of research on my parts, and as such, they have worked well as a combo. It has also been very relaible.
60k of daily driving, driving to edmonton, medicine hat, vancouver, winnipeg, etc. It also has over 200 passes on it, at the expense of a stock diff because of my poor tire choice.
Motor backs-up on the dyno within 1whp every year.
N/A is like lego for me, 1000 bucks at a time makes the car more fun, and doesn't break the bank.
The new cams and retainers were $2000, so I have big hopes.
The law of diminishing returns is starting to come into play, but the k20 has proven a good platform to play with so far.
I shoot for about $100/hp on most mods, and overall I'm right around there.
The fact that Honda parts and stock internals at this point is making about 130hp/L is a testament to Honda's ability to de-tune their shit to ridiculous levels...

I'm hoping to be about 50k away from that there.
12.5:1 would be nice for power though.
