11ty billion
welp didnt it surpass our 50 year high or something. at this rate, it seems there is no strong mental barrier. all previous highs seems to be broken. I'm guessing 1.10 will be hit, we are too close to it now.
but shit will hit the fan when it goes beyond 1.15 I Say.

Yeah, there's going to be a point where all the manufacturers say "Well, it'll be cheaper to up and move our whole operation out of Canada, then it will be to stay here"Originally posted by SilverRex

I don't think the US dollar will ever go up. I think they're done and fucked at the same time. No more US currency being the world dominant currency...I think the Canadian dollar will become the world dominant currency.

The US has a long ways to go before they are permafucked. Their fucked right now, but there is still all sorts of hope for recovery.Originally posted by R!zz0

I doubt it. I think the Euro would be next in line after the USD.Originally posted by R!zz0

I do get great service there, especially when I mention my name, haha.
It is more a matter of the US dollar dropping against global currencies. However, it is already hurting a lot of companies not just manufacturing either. Any company based in Canada with contracts in the US is feeling this.
However, new stats today had Canada's unemployment at a 30 year low and job growth in every province. We are doing well and the US market is battling between the mortgage fiasco and whether to cut interest rates for relief while hurting their dollar.
I wouldn't worry about the states until something drastic happens like countries pulling their securities out of the economy or OPEC choosing to use the Euro as their stable currency. Right now foreign investment in the US is almost double last year since companies can be purchased for so cheap.
When was the USD ever world dominent? GBP has always been huge, hasn't it? (I could be wrong, that's why I'm asking)Originally posted by R!zz0

someone once said and I agree US money will never go away, since all black money exchanged underground usually is in US currency.
So US isnt going away anytime soon, sometimes I wonder if the US themselve are trying to intentionally hurt their dollar for unseen profits. Then turn around and ride it all the way up.
It is like, if you load up on US currency/stocks right after 9/11, your stupid.
similarily, there has got to be some powerful people in the US laughing, the more predictable the US economy is, the richer some people get.

things will be slow to change, but none the less they will with time. Most of the world currency is essentially worthless paper that is printed "as needed"Originally posted by R!zz0

The only difference is that our currency is a little less worthless than the US.
The Ruble in Russia crashed due to their never ending government meddling and so will the US dollar eventually. Fiat money is great isnt it. Never has worked, never will.
I hope that rumour is true, then more fuel to the power to cripple US currencyOriginally posted by brendankharris

If you do decide to park your money in gold, make sure to burry it in a hole somewhere before the government comes to take it away like they did in 1933 in the US.Originally posted by broken_legs

Yea I've heard that too. Saudis wanted to price Oil in Euros instead of dollars, which would take away demand for the USD. I don't think the US will let that happen anytime soon.Originally posted by brendankharris
