Default Universal Ford selling "new" vehicles with 2300km on them

My family ordered a truck from Universal Ford. they said it will take a few weeks. It arrived a few days ago, it appears they have someone drive it all the way from Mexico

They didnt deny it. we were not told. Is this normal? I never bought a new car before so i dont know how this stuff works.

That sounds straight up fucked… I wouldn't pay 'new' pricing for a vehicle that some random drove for 2400kms.

You've already probably paid, but is there a way to pull that money back? Sounds shady as shit.

It's no longer a new car, do not go through with it if you did indeed purchase a NEW car unless they sell it to you for the same depreciated price you would get if you were to buy a car and then decide to sell it 3000 km's later.

A car can still be deemed as new as long as its never been registered... so it could be a dealer demo, dealer personal car.. or something related.

True but you usually know you are buying a demo and are compensated for the use in the purchase price.

I've heard of stuff like that happening, definetly talk to them about it, you can get the warranty extended i know that, but you should see if your family can get compensated for the 2400Km in some way, cause thats a little extreme for a "New" Truck

When I worked at a leasing company, they considered a vehicle "new" if it had under 12,000 kms, so they would all drive their demos until that point and then sell/lease them as new vehicles. I'm pretty sure they knocked the price down a bit though... so it's all semantics. I'd ask for a price reduction, they just as easily could have shipped it.

I would defenetely not accept it without some sort of significant price reduction, and threaten to bring it to the attention of local media consumer reports.

Some entry level wage individual drove it across North America. Its almost safe to assume it was bagged/abused.

Also the first couple thousand are supposed to be the break-in period for the engine. Who knows how it was treated in that critical time.

wow just wow, that is shady. I purchased my truck and it had 64kms. I thought anything over 250kms was not considered new anymore?

yes someone drove it from mexico! my family didnt notice the KM till after we picked it up.

its funny, toyota makes its trucks in USA and Ford makes their trucks in mexico and drives them up there. We even had to pay a destination charge? for what!??

Anything over 1,000 KM is no longer considered 'new'. It's a 'demo'.
