Whats the Sask parties view on oil royalties? Are they going to adopt similar policies as Ab. and stand united, or try to steal our business?
Alaska is considering raising their royalty rate as well, since we have.

Can't explain my happiness about the election. Waited for this for a looong time. And with me moving back to Sask soon, couldn't have come at a better time. Well actually a few years back would have been nice, but none the less im happy!
This may be true for many places, but Saskatchewan has always played by different rules.Originally posted by Antonito
Yeah, people hate making money and having jobs.
I'd say it'll be at least 8 years before enough dumb people start complaining to get the NDP back in. In BC the NDP still hasn't returned, and it's been almost 8 years.
Saskatchewan may be the birthplace of Canadian socialism, as well as a capitalist heartland, but there really sin't a province more happy with the status quo. In BC, the NDP fucked the province over, in Saskatchewan, it did enough to keep alot of people happy. Sask is a place where people would rather keep things they way they are than risk having everything fall apart with big changes, regardless of how small that risk may be.
I can easily forsee the NDP winning again, but its really the SP's to lose. If they try to do too much too soon, they will lose it.
Off topic.
Do you think PC will stay in power in Alberta?
If not who will run the government?

NDP will never make it into power in Alberta, there are to many white people for that to happen.
I'm very happy about the SK party getting power, but I'm cautiously optomistic. They're pretty green, but I think they have the right idea and the provinces best interests at heart.
I'm surprised they chose to have a "set voting" day, That always seemed like an ace up the sleeve for the party in power, and for them to give that up.....
EDIT: And regarding real estate, currently it is overpriced if you bought recently don't expect to hit the home lottery in a year or 2.
The economy there need's to catch up about 40 years to alberta, but if this "Enterprise Saskatchewan" does it right you could see the population and economy on par with Alberta in 10 years.

That's somewhat true. My family and I had to leave Saskatchewan with a lot of other people back in the early 90's. so I'm guessing the people that stayed really don't mind being poor. But we'll see what happens if the province floods with people like what happened here in Alberta, they'll all want to keep the money train going, so the voting might be different.Originally posted by kertejud

Things are indeed looking up, I'd say the next 180 days will set the tone for the next 5 years though so let's wait and see.
b.t.w. - Stamps are going DOWN!
although I would LOVE to the Stamps win in Regina....
You do not want a massive boom in SK.. they do not have the population nor the infrastructure to support it. I have friends in Saskatoon who are looking forward to it... they are in for some hard times. The problem with Sk is that 50 percent of the population dont pay taxes... between all the farmers and natives there just isnt enough money in the pot.
Correct me if Im wrong but isnt one of the main reasons for Saskatoons growth due to outside investors more so than actual growth due to industry?
Looking for a new VW? How about a used vehicle? We are Central Albertas #1 source for pre-owned vehicles

If you aren't aware, those cuts were part of the Sask Party's platform last election and the NDP hammered it into the ground saying it wasn't necessary, feasible or sustainable. Then, lo and behold, after a couple years they were basically forced into implementing it and took all of the credit for "coming up with it". NDP here does not voluntarily cater to business that isn't union or government run and that's a long standing fact.Originally posted by 01RedDX
Exactly, it was the NDP's policy of cutting business taxes to attract investment that was responsible for bringing the boom to Saskatchewan. Unfortunately, the communist stigma of the NDP will always haunt them and this is mostly a symbolic change that will bring even more investment.

^Agreed, the NDP is far more left than the SASK party, which wins them a ton of votes with those who don't believe in allowing a market to determine wages, prices, etc. I just can't agree with government intervention for things that can be deicded by the invisible hand, you can't equalize payments without equalizing efforst and efficiency of society.
