Now maybe the most resource rich province in the country can finally start moving forward.
It's about time!

I say stupid shit all the time.
If you've invested in property in Saskatchewan, this is probably the best news you'll hear all week
Saskatoon is leading the Country in rising home prices.
Funny how it goes, BC, Alberta, Sask...In that order![]()

I don't care what order it occurs in so long as it happens! We have the potential to make as powerful an impact to the national economy as you guys do if governed properly. Hopefully this is the start of good things to come.

By governed properly, I take it you mean let the corporations run the province?
Not run it, but at least make the climate business-friendly enough that business wants to invest here. There's a fine line between letting the gov't rape and pillage your province and letting big business do it. Hopefully they get somewhere close to the right balance. At the least, there's more hope now than there was yesterday.Originally posted by Toma

Yeah, it's hard to trust a government that only just recently stopped fucking everybody over, and only in the face of a complete revolt and overwhelming evidence that the process worksOriginally posted by 01RedDX
Exactly, it was the NDP's policy of cutting business taxes to attract investment that was responsible for bringing the boom to Saskatchewan. Unfortunately, the communist stigma of the NDP will always haunt them and this is mostly a symbolic change that will bring even more investment.
My opinion is that we were successful last year in spite of them. Last year was great but they were in no position to continue it. I'm no expert, not even close, but that's my opinion.Originally posted by Toma

There were no long term plans for managing resources/economic boom. The two main parts of their platform were to spend 3/4's of a billion dollars over the next three years making prescription costs max out at $15 for everyone and giving PROPERTY TAX REBATES to people who RENT. People who rent don't pay property taxes (directly anyways) last time I checked. All that would accomplish is rising rental costs. That combined with some weaksauce promises to students were all engineered to buy votes. Who where they directed at? Seniors, welfare recipients and students. All groups that have high numbers but little actual impact on the tax base/economy. They didn't even have any of that money, just counting on resource revenue to fund it. No plans to pay off debt, just spend spend spend to buy votes. Pro-union anti-business doesn't work. If it did, when you look over the past 30 years we would have been outperforming your economy by now.
Also, look at their 20 year track record in crumbling infrastructure and deplorable health care. Always dumping more money into both but never moving forward, only backward. Health care costs makes up over half of our budget and we have the worst wait times etc. in Canada to my knowledge.

Besides the BoC and farming, there isn't much there.
You have to go way up North to find Uranium Mining and Oil Sands. Hopefully they take full advantage of these resources to boost economic growth in Sask.

I was born and raised in Saskatchewan but left in the early '90s to come to a province where I could actually find a job.

GO RIDERS GO
(sorry about that)
Anyway, for those who are still there and have been there for at least the past ten years, have things REALLY changed or is it all smoke and mirrors?
Oh ya...GO RIDERS GO!

Things are indeed looking up, I'd say the next 180 days will set the tone for the next 5 years though so let's wait and see.

I'd say it'll be at least 8 years before enough dumb people start complaining to get the NDP back in. In BC the NDP still hasn't returned, and it's been almost 8 years.
I certainly hope not.Originally posted by Toma
