    Default C-train down 17th ave.

    http://www.canada.com/calgaryherald/...5c9a1b&k=35044

This is going to be messy, both for construction and car traffic (during and after completion). A skytrain would make so much more sense, especially down that road.

Is there map layou ton this? Just curious to see where it would go, I have no clue where and what Calgary streets are anymore.

Dont think they should do it along 17th though, depending on where the platforms are.

They could elevate it for the new section, but could you image the trains getting stuck onthe track? and snow removal?

The reason vancover can do it, is because they dont get near the amount of snow and ice we do.

No kidding, people already get confused enough coming out of downtown!

    "THIS IS SOMERSET?! Jeeeez!!!"

Like seriously the platform even announces it now!

+1 for a link to the map, and maybe where the plan on fitting a c-train through that?

It won't be on 17th Ave SW until west of 37th St SW.

Its obviously going to have to go underground in some parts.

For the west leg a c-train coming up 17th to 69thst SW is really badly needed.

I am just already imagining the chaos while it takes 5 years for this to be done though.

I think they would have been better off to make a Ring Route for the LRT. Transit in Calgary is only efficient if you need to be downtown during rush hour. I know most of the jobs are downtown these days but that won't change unless there is transportation that will support it.

Just curious though, how many people would actually take transit rather than drive to work? Most of those who live in the West end are pretty well off so would they take a train line that also services the NE?

What would anyone do on a ring route LRT?

Go from one suburb to another?

This isn't Vancouver. Our commercial and business districts here are fairly dense.

That being said I would have rather seen the LRT go to the SE into the foothills industrial park so that people don't have to take 2-3 buses to get there.

It would make it more convenient to go from quadrant to quadrant rather than have to always go through downtown. It is quite inconvenient to get from the NW to the NE or the NW to the SW. I do find people are willing to give up their cars for trains but not for buses.

I also agree the SE would be better suited. Shouldn't they consider building the LRT to the new proposed business center in the SE?

Thats part of life. Ever taken the subway in NY? It isn't simple either, but if people want to get around better they best put on their thinking caps.

A figure "8" ring route would be good.

They really should push that shit underground, no matter the cost.

I guess this will be a Whitehorn <-> Sarcee line (aka Rags to Riches)?

Fuck off, leave country hill blvd alone.

We don't need a train there.
