but the original Challenger was a much bigger and heavier version of the Charger. So I shouldn't be surprised I guess

Seems more like a novelty and a nod to a more glorious time of Dodge's existance. This car *should* offer the same remarkible level of performance the original Challenger did.

but I think asides from asinine amounts of potential HP, we all know it wont

4000 lbs??? Where did you read that? I don't think the weight has been released yet. I've been interested in more specs like this but there is still a lot unknown. They have to come out with more information soon too since the Chicago auto show is coming up next month.

    Big hairy deal.
    I put a deposit down 2 years ago for a 6.1L 6speed.
I haven't got a call yet as to when I can pick up my car.
Since all of the SRT8's are coming with the 5 speed auto-stick, I ain't holding my breath.
Besides 2-1/2 years of broken promises and general bullshit has a way of turning me off on the whole deal.

Source? Or are you just speculating?

I haven't seen anything about curb weights.

Since the car is essentially identical mechanically to the Charger, it should be very close to the Charger SRT8's weight of 4160 lbs.

^If this car is on the same platform as the Charger, I'll pass

Eitherway this isn't looking very promising

I can almose guarantee that I'll eventually own one of those at some point.

The single biggest automotive regret of my life was passing on a nicely done 73 challenger, they've always been my favorite old mopar and with the retro-styling and as good or better performance than the original it's pretty much a win for me.

NICE! Love it, so clean and so nice.... this CAN'T be a Chrysler, lol! It's the first Chrysler I've really liked (just visually) in a while since the original Viper GTS and Prowler. Maybe this will make Ford get it's act together on a future Mustang.

The new BMW 135i will cost about the same, look better, have a better interior, better engine, and be faster. I think i'll pass.

Yes because the type of person wanting a Challenger will want a BMW.

i think you are completely missing the point of this car.

and IMO the 135i is SO much uglier than the challenger.

That's okay, I wouldn't want us to have the same car anyways.

I found these photos from the Challengers Chicago debut. They look pretty nice, and I'm definitely a fan of the interior. The SRT stitched into the seats is pretty cool.

Stunning! Inside and out! So whats the curb weight on this thing? It looks heavy standing still thats my only thoughts.

My biggest ever regret was not bugging my dad enough to buy this 1971 Cuda Convertible. There were only 88 of them made, for all the years. Probably a lot less with the ( with this car; original matching numbers) 440 six packs, of which that car had. 4 speed manual I believe too... just an ultra-rare car, fully loaded, but with the uber-rare manual.

Everything original, but fully restored.... asking price? $18k

Now? that car would be worth a little short of a million I'm guessing, as perhaps there are maybe 50 cuda convertibles known today, and probably two or three with the options that car had. Full rotesserie restoration too.
I was only 12 when I saw that, and I got on my knees and begged my dad to buy that car.
He thought about it for a few minutes, and passed on it.....
I remember crying myself to sleep over it since even then I knew what a stellar STELLAR deal that car was.

Sickens me to my core now a days. perhaps not a million in todays value but I'll bet that car would easily in the $700-900k range at the barrett jackson auction.
You honest to God should have seen that thing.

Awesome, I hold Cuda' and Challenger in the same regard. Best looking mopars ever made imo. I feel worse for you missing out on that than I do for myself!
