Exclamation excessive speeding? only in retarded countries

Had an idea from another thread, so making this one to see what people think about the issue.

Why does excessive speeding = dangerous driving?

In most other un-retarded countries, speeding IS SPEEDING.

No matter if you are going 10 or 100 over the speed limit. All you get is a speeding ticket and fine.

It's the cop's opinion it may be dangerous driving, but who's to say he's fit to decide if you can drive fast safely? Is he some kind of race car instructor? No.

Dangerous driving to me are things such as:

    1) cutting people off
    2) putting on lipstick in the mirror
    3) passing cars on double yellow around corners, up hills
    4) driving a pos beater thats wheels are about to fall off, faulty brakes, etc
    5) passing on the right, driving slow in the left lane

    Just to name a few.

Doesn't matter how good of a driver you are, when there are other cars on the road and you are doing 50+ km/h more than them, it creates an unessesary hazard.

The sooner you accept the fact that drivers/driving laws in Canada are by far worse that drivers/laws in Europe the better off you'll be.

The trick is to learn to deal with it.

So why do I still get a dangerous driving ticket going 200 on an empty highway? With 0 cars on it...

Maybe they consider it a danger for you. Say if a deer jumped out if you were flying at 200kph, even if you don't hit it, you might swerve into the ditch backwards and upside down.

You could always move to Europe. Honestly, if Europe is so much better and the policies in Europe are far more sensible than here then why don't you move back?

Well, unless you've taken a lot of training for real world driving at high speeds like cops do, he does know more than you about what is and isn't safe driving.

It's dangerous driving because in the event of an accident you're more likely to kill someone. If you hit something going 140km/hr instead of 100km/hr you will hit it with TWICE the energy, not 40% more.

You're right, who are the cops to decide who can or cannot drive safely at high speeds? That's why we need laws that cover it... if you're going 50+ over the limit, you get a dangerous driving ticket. There, done.

who to tell that the highway is empty? at that speed you are pretty much driving faster than you can see whats ahead. At that speed, by the time you react it'll be too late.

Well it wasn't so empty if you get the ticket is it? How can you claim to be in control of your surroundings if you are unaware of the cop down the road? Could be a cop, could be another hazard. I'm glad it's a cop and you get caught vs a more tragic outcome.

really? A quick google and in your mythical country of Germany it seems that once you are 31 km/hr over the limit you get a 1 month driving suspension.

    oops.

The cop issues the ticket and other action directed under the law. The courts decide if you are guilty of the offense. Any administrative punishment such as suspensions and vehicle seizures are decided by government.

But did ya'll know you could actually stop faster going 200km/h vs 100km/h? this is mostly due to the mad down force yo, esp in one of those teeny tiny VW golfs. Excessive speed isn't dangerous thats just absurd. Speed limits are only there to fine people, nobody has ever put thought into speed limits when they are posted. The city actually hires cash cow advisors to implement them for maximum revenue. True story i heard it from a friend of a friends uncle's son of mine.
