the RB26 is the best Japanese engine by a long shot. The 2JZ IS good, i just never liked it too much for some reason.

hahaha
the 2jz gte can handle 800+ hp on stock internals.....there are plenty of examples of this on the net....Originally posted by thich
iirc, the stock internals can handle up to 400hp... so that goes to show how well Nissan designed that engine

good argument there buddy!!!
i don't know as much about the rb26dett, but i am pretty sure it doesnt have variable valve timing like the 2jz does, it lacks .4 liters, and i am pretty sure it the turbos aren't sequential ( i may be wrong on that point) so boost isn't spread as equally.
i have no personal experience with either (yet) so i dont want to say if the 2jz is better than the rb26, but liek you i am biased, except towards the toyota.
yeah but i was just saying that for an i-4 that's pretty good.Originally posted by dj_honda

the 2jz is an i-6.. i know what it's capable of ...
2jzs hit 1000 horses, with enough work, but the japanese engine which is going to be the next big thing is the 1uzfe, 4.0 liter dohc v8 from toyota, outa the GS400, among others.
theres a couple out there pushing 1100 horses
the rb i dont know as much about, but i never hear much about them laying down insane power either
doesnt mean they cant...
also, theres some rules about weight and power minimums for certain engine configurations...
i dont recall all the details, but i know theres a logical reason for using a 4 cylinder in a supra.
Theres no reason to debate the RB vs. the 2jz unless you have worked on and or driven vehicles with those engines. They are both great engines and have their pros and cons. By the time the number reaches 1000+hp a ton of stock parts have been changed so it's no use comparing any more, personally Im a fan of the 3sgte, light weight and a ton of hp potential as well

im pretty sure thats an MR2 engine...sumthing to do with the 4cyl class so toyota made a supra with the mr2 engine.... i highly doubt its an silvia motor...the topsecret supra also has a mr2 motor...
