Well thanks for all the input here.

I phoned the uni lost and found today and someone had turned it in!

Everything is there, even the cookie card!

I think they may have taken like $5 or something but they deserve it and i got my wallet back.

I also phoned all the credit agencies and put my credit profile on fraud alert so I think about covers everything.

    Finally, Karma paid off.

That is good news. That $5 is pretty funny if it is true. I can just picture the person pulling it out and going "This one is for doing a good deed."

This is time consuming and phone lines are always busy but worth while!!!! and MUST BE DONE.

Phone Equifax, and TransUnion and have a note filed on your credit report, as these companies will ask additional questions before issuing a credit card or providing details when a credit card application is completed.
    Cheers

Yeah its a total PITA but I guess its worth it.

As for the $5, I hope the person bought themsleves a beer or coffee for the good deed.

Had no idea where to even look. I got a call later that day from a friend who was so pissed off.

He said "man, here I was, walking downtown and came accross a wallet. I was so excited to get some cash, and I opened it up and it was your friggin' wallet! I couldn't steal from you!"

So lucky that one of my good friends stumbled onto it!!
    Thats funny....how ironic....what a small world.

    Yeah, that's very fortunate.

I lost my wallet and had to replace everything. Major PITA. No sign of it ever, and so I now have fraud alerts on my credit (which BTW last for 6 years) ... and all the other BS that goes along with losing your wallet.

Don't carry your Birth Certifice or SIN. There is no need. Lock 'em away someplace safe.
