I haven't been to a lot of places but I love Europe. Out of your list I would suggest Italy. Small country with so much to see. Each city is so different from one another. Tons and tons of famous landmarks/sites. You could spend a whole day walking through one of their cities. I think it would be a great place for an anniversary trip.

If you liked going all over the UK then you'll probably love doing the rest of Europe. Honestly I spent very little time in London but from what I saw and what I talked to other people on my tour about the rest of Europe is way better.

Paris is amazing. You could spend days in the Louvre depending on what you want out of it. You can easily spend days going through that city visiting historical sites or just soaking up the atmosphere.

Tons to see in Italy as well. The big three places of course are Florence, Venice, and Rome. Each has something different for you to experience. Unless you have extra time I would skip Pisa. Takes a bit of time to get there and when you do you only need 30min to take some pictures and your done. Nothing but the tower there.

I haven't been bit I hear Barcelona is beautiful and a great to checkout.

Melinda, stick me in your suit case, and I'll show you around..

Australia, third vote, it's winning so far so go there.

North-East coast is where I spent most of my time, Canberra - the capitol city is extremely historic, as is Sydney.. If you want AMAZING, simply- a m a z i n g -places to go, fly to Sydney, rent a car, drive to Wollongong, and make your way towards Melbourne along the coast, even if you want cheap accomidation, cheap food, great local people, and a chill, laid back enviroment - check out "Batemans Bay" and "Moruya" and "Malua Bay" and "Tuross Heads (amazing!)" - and all the little beaches and hot spots in between.. Going from around batemans bay, if you go 100km in each direction, every 5 minutes looks like a different country..

    Do it.

    Seriously.

I haven't been very many places, but Japan was and will always be my favorite. AMAZING.

My boss would vouch for New Zealand though.

Never really liked Paris so much, IMO southern France is much better, Nice and Monaco are probably the coolest places I've been, and Italy was wicked, much nicer than France IMO. You're right, Piza, Florence and Rome are the places to go. Rome > Paris.

Scandinavia is awesome as well, tons of lakes, wicked archipelago, cheap cruises between Finland, Estonia and Sweden, very modern with some classic elements, and awesome people, pretty much everyone speaks english so there's no language barrier.

I wanted to check out St. Petersburg as well when I was over there, I think Russia would be an interesting place to visit.

Croatia is a beautiful place to explore,
and Southern Germany is a must!

Is this trip planned for any specific time of year? (Can be an important factor).

    Here are my picks:

    February: Thailand

    March: Vietnam, pleasant weather.

April: Japan. Stop and smell the cherry blossoms.

May: Europe. Try to avoid some of the tourists. West if you like really famous landmarks, well-known history, and throngs of tourists. East if you want something off the slightly less beaten path, cheaper (although not so much anymore).

June-August: Stay home, Western Canada is the place to be! Everywhere else is either A) too hot or B) too expensive to get to.

Early early September: New York City, avoid the crushing summer heat, but before the prices skyrocket.

October: Land of Oz 'mate, now's the time.

Early November: Costa Rica. Sandwiched between the rainy season and the tourist-throng season is Nov 1-15, take advantage of this amazing country.

    December: Stay home.

If kids are in your near future, maybe pick somewhere you definitely won't have a chance in hell of going with kids.

Heh heh I wasn't there long enough to get bored with Paris but I liked what I saw. If you like that renaissance time period. The pastries are also yummy. Lots of shopping too if thats your thing. I thought just walking around even at night taking in the city was quite fun.

Rome is a different era and just as great. The things you see will astound you when you think of how long ago they were made. Vatican is a must see.

As for Paris and Rome I know people that think Paris > Rome and Rome > Paris. I guess it depends on what each person is looking for. Either way I would go to both places again in a heartbeat.

I also here great things about Cambodia. Definitely on my list of places to see.

Peru huh. A couple of votes already may have to look into that as well

A couple weeks in France would be awesome.

If it's your first time there, Paris lives up to it's name IMO (plenty to do/see, could easily spend 4-5 days in the city there and not see it all).

For Southern France, Nice was amazing. They have a great mix of everything there: high-end casinos, old town, new town, awesome beach/water activites, bunch of smaller towns all around 30 minutes away to see "old" towns with like castle-like walls and fortress cities and stuff.

Lucerne in Switzerland is also really pretty, didn't think they would have much when I went...but they have tons and tons of nightlife (not all clubs, like just night market/walk type stuff), beautiful scenery, our hotel was right on Lake Lucerne.

Just a couple places off the top of my head....

Sorry, I wasnt super specific with that. Our anni is April, so the trip might be in early-mid may.

We're definately thinking a trip where we'll be out and about all the time is something kids wouldnt be good on, so we're loving some of the suggestions here! We've done England, Scotland and Wales, and sort of toyed with the idea of finishing Scotland this time around, but some place different would be nice I think. Thanks so much for all of the suggestions so far you guys! We're already starting to look into some of them!

    - Shanghai
    - Munich
    - Kyoto

I think I picked those three because all three have a good mix of old and new architecture/culture. Especially Shanghai... Pudong at night is like looking into the future.
