That doesn't make sense then what about the Starbucks?? It's closer to the dump than Home Depot.

Maybe it finally realized it wasn't in australia and it got up and swam home. Any reports of missing busboys in the news lately?

that place was gross. for a steak house, they cook pretty crappy steaks. although they're big, it isnt very good. as well as the food there in general.

Good riddance.. I agree with the to many chains.. I like to support the non chain traditional steak houses, Smugglers, Niks, Reef and Beef, Caesers, etc...
The only chain I miss is The Ponderosa, chain style steak but at least is was chain style cheap.

So how do you explain the numerous restaurants/food establishments there? Subway, Montanas, California Thai, Kim Lan, Xan Mongolian Barbeque, Extreme Pita, Edo Sushi, Quiznos, Mucho Burrito, Panago, Swiss Chalet and probably more and some of these are just as close to the dump as the Home Depot. Some enlightenment from someone in the know such as yourself would be more than welcome.

The only rule for building over landfills is that you can't build residential over top of it, due to potential soil contamination. Oddly enough, you can build parks on it, businesses, and restaurants. Deerfoot meadows is built on contaminated wasteland, and there's tons of restaurants there.

I always thought Arbour Lake, Citidel, were built on a landfill, but that wasn't the case. Not sure why no residential, but you can build pretty much anything else on top.

So ya, Beacon Hill is allowed to have restaurants there. When the area first opened, there were no restaurants there because it was still being developed.

Jeez, never noticed that avow did an almost 4.5 year bump in this thread - that is just so cool.
    Will fuck off, again.
