I think this is more in the US where they did that. Here, everyone I know with clean records and no accidents, their insurance either went down slightly (mine) or stayed the same.

The guys that got into accidents or got lots of tickets, they went up a LOT more than usual.

Aren't most of the big insurance companies US-based anyways?

Allstate, Statefarm, and Prudential to name a few. Most of the ones we have here just buy from the big boys, therefore an increase in the US should translate to an increase in ours.

For myself, no new driving offences, but my insurance did increase by $300/year.

what pisses me off is when they evaluate how much your car is worth! They say it's worth twice what you know it's worth but if you ask them what you would get for it if someone totaled it, it turns out you'd get maybe half of it's true value

well, my insurance went up 400 a year, 3800 to 4200... thats because i claimed for a theft

my dads on the other hand went up 700, and hes had no tickets or claims for 6 years straight.... go figure.

i went to rbcinsurance.com and got a quote for 2200ish, 23 year old male, one accident, one ticket, one claim, pl pd 1million 3rd party on an 82 supra.

the ticket i had before i went to their company, the claim i admit would affect it but by 100 a month?

and they DID claim it was sept. 11th.

    and i quote...
"the events of sept 11, 2001, large weather related losses, and overall deterioration in financial results for these reinsurance providers have caused reinsurance companies to charge all insurance companies higher premiums."

"a third signifiicant area in the reduction in in investment returns that has imacted insurance companies."

admitadly, the accident should have increased my rate, but it doesn't mention it ANYWHERE in the letter i recieved from them.

I am with Meloche Monnex - pay 109/month for PLPD on one car, and fire/theft on 2 others.

And yes they are taking new drivers - I got my buddy to sign up last month who is 22.

Hey, their office is right beside ours, I was told we get discounts with them... oh well, looks like you don't need it anymore!

For anyone who's interested in calling Trilagy for a quote, it's 214-7242. That's the direct line to the agent who was helping me, and his name is Dave Mitchell.

    Good luck!

You get market value when you total your car, that's the way it's done. The appraiser/adjuster does a complete assessment on the vehicle based on past vehicle sales, it's all computerized.
