Default just got my insurance quote for this year from AMA

went from $241.00 to $336.00 for 1,000,000 plpd on an 85 jetta with 1 ticket and i minor accident

    why?

you guessed it, september 11th, but they actually admited they lost cash in the stock markets.

hmm, i wonder if td will give me a cheaper rate now that i am over 18, an increase of 100/month is way too much.

Went and got my new policy at Trilagy today. I'm now paying only $3463, as opposed to $4696 at State Farm. Needless to say, SF can now kiss my ass.

problem is, insurance for being 18 will be in the same ball park for me regardless.

Finboy, looks like you will have to wait till your accident is 5 yrs old and you turn 25 before your insurance is anywhere near normal....When I turned 25, my ins went from 4000/yr for plpd to 2376 for ful coverage, you are just going to have to tough it out...

Your insurance went up because you had an accident and a ticket, NOT because of September 11th. Anyone who told you that nonsense is trying to bullshit you. I'm insured via AMA, and have NEVER had my rates go up for no reason, September 11 or not.

If you've missed the past 2 months or so of your life, you probably never read about a consistent and all-encompassing insurance increase for almost everyone. This is because insurance premiums dont mean shit to an insurance company. They money we provide is used strategically in the stock market to raise funds for the company, where the real money is at. If you've read any reports in the past 2 years now, our economy has been in recession for some time. With a recession, comes a massive decrease in stock market profits and this loss in profits is translated in the insurance increases.
