15% is probably still bigger than hollywood movies.
considering porn is the biggest internet industry, a large part being the dvd sales.
and PPV is expensive.

You got that right! I used to work for a Satellite tv provider and had access to client purchases. And man, their database for PPV order history was all porn! Then second was UFC... makes you wonder if anybody who orders PPV are guys. LOLOriginally posted by rage2
Believe it or not, Satellite ordering of porn is the most popular, followed closely by internet downloads.
Porn isn't really a factor anymore.Originally posted by mikestang
VHS won over BETA because the porn industry went with VHS (and porn sells more than real movies)
PORN sided with HD
uh oh
unfortunately for me, i need to get a hd player... I have a 72" :/
basic cable looks like shiat. haha waiting for my hd box
Rent to own.
And here I am, thinking I want to get an HD-DVD player, or maybe a HD/BD player. With this one story, this pretty much shuts that down, and I'm gonna go BD. I guess the HD player on my 360 is gonna be a paperweight in a few years.
Just sold off my HD DVD stuff (man that was fast) and picking up a PS3 tommorow for my movies.

get an lcd for anywhere, with the 120/240hz it's superior in all ways.
Hahaha, ya for sure!Originally posted by rage2
BTW - the next winner's gonna be downloads. Microsoft wins lol.
Fuck disk players, heeelllllloooooo hard drive! It's already starting thanks to xbox 360.
Rage did u hear in a few months Bell is going to release the use of the USB port on some of the pvr recievers to hook up usb hard drives? YES!
i thought blu-ray had a scratch resistance aspect to them? not like 100% resistant but substantially more than dvds
Looks like warner brothers announced they are dropping hd-dvd in favor of blu-ray. the breakdown is as follows:
apple and dell are both including blu-ray drives only as well.
I was rooting for hd-dvd, but I think its safe to say now that its going to be blu-ray.
Yah I also am a HD-DVD fan but I have to agree that Warner joining blu-ray only is pretty much the nail in the coffin for HD-DVD.. Grant you I can't see Microsoft going down without a fight and unless hardware prices drop it's still going to be a long time before we see the next generation of DVD's mainstream... Read a great article here on it and some really good points are made..

Aren't they the same thing. If the consumer decides to buy one then the other does make money and it dies?Originally posted by old&slow

I heard somewhere that Universal is with HD-DVD for a certain period and when that expires, they could be switching over to Blu-Ray.
it's really whatever the porn industry goes with....
just like bata and VHS....
* gets popcorn and watches some porn *....
by the way, why isnt disney on that pie chart?...
^^Not necessarily. Porn downloads, and PPV movies are easily outpacing any movie purchases for pr0n. No real effect on the industry now.
Sony just has the strangle hold on the market now, with the switch of WB to Blu-ray. Personally, I have both players now, so I enjoy the best of both worlds. But I may be selling off my HD-DVD goods soon.
http://formatwarcentral.com/index.ph...-from-the-bda/ 500 million to go exclusive .. too bad Fox didn't join HD-DVD
Crazy. Well, if BD doesn't become mainstream replacing DVD's and end up with LD like sales levels, Sony will never make that $ back.

I dont think it will be the same as LD, people are more video/audio files these days compared to the LD days. Plus with HD tv's being the big hype people will want to see more HD content. But as you say the spread to bluray like the vhs to dvd will not be the same till the bluray gets to around 200 bucks I figure.Originally posted by rage2
