15% is probably still bigger than hollywood movies.

considering porn is the biggest internet industry, a large part being the dvd sales.

    and PPV is expensive.

You got that right! I used to work for a Satellite tv provider and had access to client purchases. And man, their database for PPV order history was all porn! Then second was UFC... makes you wonder if anybody who orders PPV are guys. LOL

And here I am, thinking I want to get an HD-DVD player, or maybe a HD/BD player. With this one story, this pretty much shuts that down, and I'm gonna go BD. I guess the HD player on my 360 is gonna be a paperweight in a few years.

i thought blu-ray had a scratch resistance aspect to them? not like 100% resistant but substantially more than dvds

    Default blu-ray wins format war?

Looks like warner brothers announced they are dropping hd-dvd in favor of blu-ray. the breakdown is as follows:

apple and dell are both including blu-ray drives only as well.

I was rooting for hd-dvd, but I think its safe to say now that its going to be blu-ray.

Yah I also am a HD-DVD fan but I have to agree that Warner joining blu-ray only is pretty much the nail in the coffin for HD-DVD.. Grant you I can't see Microsoft going down without a fight and unless hardware prices drop it's still going to be a long time before we see the next generation of DVD's mainstream... Read a great article here on it and some really good points are made..

Aren't they the same thing. If the consumer decides to buy one then the other does make money and it dies?

I heard somewhere that Universal is with HD-DVD for a certain period and when that expires, they could be switching over to Blu-Ray.

^^Not necessarily. Porn downloads, and PPV movies are easily outpacing any movie purchases for pr0n. No real effect on the industry now.

Sony just has the strangle hold on the market now, with the switch of WB to Blu-ray. Personally, I have both players now, so I enjoy the best of both worlds. But I may be selling off my HD-DVD goods soon.

Crazy. Well, if BD doesn't become mainstream replacing DVD's and end up with LD like sales levels, Sony will never make that $ back.

I dont think it will be the same as LD, people are more video/audio files these days compared to the LD days. Plus with HD tv's being the big hype people will want to see more HD content. But as you say the spread to bluray like the vhs to dvd will not be the same till the bluray gets to around 200 bucks I figure.

I had a LD!!! Those were huge disks!!

LOL I hope you are joking. You honestly think that 15% of the entire porn industry is bigger than hollywood movies?
