    Default High Protein Snacks

I need some healthy snacks to eat when I get bored .. usually I grab a bag of chips or some other kind of junk .. I read that Edamame and cottage cheese are good .. anything else that I can get easily? .. also does eating a lot of carbs make you tired/sleepy ... I eat a lot of rice .. macaroni .. spaghetti ... the guy at the nutrition store said I should have half a cup or less a meal

For a high protein snack thats easy, I usually just open a can of tuna and add some salt, pepper, and hot sauce. If I have some time I will add mayo to that, and cut up a tomato, and throw it all in a bowl and chow down. Very easy.
You can also pre cook a couple chicken breasts and cut them up and add to a salad or something.

not usually, but maybe I'll try. I usually have egg white omlets or cottage cheese with a few honey nut chereos.

Here is one I have used. It makes about 20 golf ball sized balls. Just mix everything together and make little ball shapes. They freeze great too. I usually put 2 together in a ziploc bag and have them ready to grab. You can experiment and put more/less of each or whatever you want.

1 warning though...it is quite messy to make...the peanut butter is a hassle, so maybe double the batch.

    2 mashed bananas
    2 c PB
    2 scoops choc whey
    2 tbsp flax

Yes carbs make you sleepy, especially when eaten without protein. The carbs spike your insulin levels, especially when its junky type carbs such as chips, sugars, etc. and then you crash, leaving you tired.

    Some ideas:

    Cottage cheese and frozen berries
Nuts- almonds/cashews (limit this to a handful though as they are very high in fat)
Protein bars- the new muscletech peanut butter cookie bar is to die for

As Mentioned previously, Hardboiled eggs are excellent quick snacks.

As I cook all my meals (up to 6 a day) I don't snack but eat every 3 hours or sooner. Lean smoked Ham with some low Fat cheddar shredded over a bed of letuce with low fat dressing is a good FAST meal.

A little off topic, but how much sodium is too much in a day?
