November 1, 2007 I get my Infinity I30 towed into Fishcreek Nissan. A few days earlier I damaged the motor and was looking to get it fixed. I was going to goto Hyatt Infinity where the vehicle was purchased but after explaining the problem to them (crank shaft bearings) they told me the bill was going going to start at $15000 to fix and when I asked why, the person simply told me "...because that's a big problem to fix..." and quickly hung up on me. So, I chose to go with Fishcreek Nissan, who told me the motor would come with both a part and labour warantee, and I gave them a $2500 deposit.
On November 1, 2007 when I dropped the car off, the women at the front desk told me that they would look the car over and call me back within a few days to let me know what the problem was. 2 weeks later I get a call saying it was the starter, I assure the person dealing with my order that it is the motor and that there is a large knock but she tells me once again it is only the starter and to come pick my car up that evening. Three hours later I get a call from the lady saying "You were right, it wasn't the starter, it actually needs a new motor". I tell the lady on the other end to get a new motor then, but do I still have to pay for the starter. She says that seeing as how they did put it in, I have no choice but to pay, I then ask to talk to the service manager and explain that I knew it was not a starter and it's not right to charge me for a random part they put in for fun, the service manager then tells me he will call me back after he looks into it but never does.
December 8, 2007 I get a call from Nissan, the woman dealing with my order tells me my motor has arrived and the vehicle will be done within a week. December 18 I call and the person dealing with my claim and she tells me that my motor is pulled, but they ordered the wrong motor and that they will have to order a new one for me. December 20 I get a call from the lady I have been dealing with and she tells me "I'm sorry to inform you of this, but your motor will not come with a warantee", this is after they told me it will come with warantee, this was also one of the reasons I chose to go with Nissan as apose to some random engine shop to repair my vehicle. I then call and ask to talk to the service manager who tells me nothing at all, I tell him i don't want to pay for the starter that I don't need and he changes the subject, then I ask why the parts aren't under warantee and he tells me I should have been told this from the beginning and offers no compensation, he then tells me my motor will be done by January at the latest.
January 3, 2008 I get a call from Nissan. My motor has arrived, it is being put in and my car will be done by the 8th and that is when I can come pick it up. On the 8th I get a call saying the motor is running rough and they need a day to fix it and I can come pick it up tomorrow (the 9th). On the 14th I get a call from Nissan again saying the motor is still running rough and that I need a new 'ecm' which will be another $1400 and my car will be ready to be picked up by 18th at the latest (the lady promises me the 18th will be the latest, and that this time they are not lying), I then ask to talk to the service manager again and ask him if he is 100% certain that it's an ecm because they don't seem to know what's going on and these charges and wait time are starting to get ridiculous, he assures me it's an ecm and says to pick up the car on the 18th. As expected I don't recieve a call to pick up the car on the 18th so I call today to see what is going on, I call at 9am, at 4:45 I get a call back and they tell me the new ecm is in and that the motor is still running rough and that they sent the car off to infinity, I then ask if I still have to pay for the ecm seeing as how it did nothing for the car, the person just says "Yes, but you can talk to the service manager", but the service manager was not in at that point.
In between all this I also put in a number of calls to the service manager, none of which were replied to. At this point I just don't know what to do. $700 for a new starter (that I didn't need), $4600 (for a motor that runs like shit) and $1400 for an ecm (which I also didn't need). Does anyone have any suggestions? Talking to the service manager seems useless because he either doesn't return my calls or speaks to me like a child and refuses to offer any real help.
thanks in advance guys.
