Default The Modern punk/screamo/hardcore/post hardcore/emo thread

Hmm, i dont know how many fans of this type of music there is on the board but i thought i might as well try and start a thread. Not many of my freinds listen to these types of music so im always looking for somewhere to find new bands and music.. so i thought if anyone had anything good to share it could be here, wether it be the local or international scene! Metal too, Not death metal or dark metal or any of that crap though, Where the "singing" is so deep it sounds like im dry heaving after a night of heavy whiksy drinking. sorry that can be in another thread lol.. i could see some screamo type metal... Electronicore is welcome of course haha.. I guess alot of people call half this shit emo, so ya....

To name a few of my favorites, that i've loved since i was in highschool i'll start with the obvious:

    Alexisonfire
    Underoath
    A Static Lullaby
    Silverstein

and then some other i like are:
    The Holly Springs Disaster
    The Devil Wears Prada
    Drop Dead Gorgeous
    Idiot Pilot
    Senses Fail
    In Fear And Faith
    Adair
    Coheed And Cambria
    Hawthorne Heightes (RIP Casey)
    Saosin
    Alesana
    Bleed The Dream
    The Bled
    Taking Back Sunday(ish)
    From Autmn to Ashes
    As i Lay Dying
    Sky Eats Airplane
    Abandon All Ships
    Killswitch Engage
    Chiodos
    Emery
    Thursday
    Every Time I Die
    Protest The Hero
    Haste The Day
    The Fall Of Troy
    Dance Gavin Dance

I'll keep adding too it as i listen through my play lists..

SO there it is, give it up, share your music guys. im always open to new bands.

I really dig the Fall of Troy and Protest the Hero, those other bands not so much... if you dig the hardcore that is more or less breakdowns for the entire album, you might dig Bury Your Dead. usually though I'll listen to different stuff..

Sikth - an even more insane version of Protest the Hero
All That Remains - sick metalcore band in the vein of old In Flames
Between the Buried and Me - cool progressive hardcore band, but only their latest two albums (Colors and Alaska) are any good. Their first album sucks balls.
Unearth - awesome 7 stringin' metalcore
Meshuggah - the blueprint for math metal, and only likeable by a very very small portion of the already small metal audience

    Protest The Hero is badass
    This is a Standoff
It Dies Today is pretty sick.
I'm almost embarrassed no one mentioned Lamb of God yet.
    Danger Boys!!!!!

Yeah Lamb of God is required material for any metal listener nowadays. They are fucking insane. New album this year probably - it is going to be the sickest thing I've ever heard. They get better and better with each release and they were sick to start with.

You might also like Mastodon. Their older stuff is straight up hardcore, but their new stuff has more of a prog King Crimson kind of influence. Check out their songs Iron Tusk and March of the Fire Ants.

You might like Gojira. They are kind of death metalish... kind of melodic... kind of lots of things, but are consistently extremely heavy. Don't have the deep vocals either. I missed most of their set when they were in town with LoG and regret it big time... caught this song, which has the sickest pinch harmonic in the intro... Their number one goal with every song is to groove as hard as they can, at perfect headbanging tempo
The Heaviest Matter of the Universe

And also check out Divine Heresy. Insanely fast and heavy with a Killswitch style singer.

And you might dig Strapping Young Lad too. They are all done now, broken up, but were a bunch of insane Canadians who live somewhere in the mountains and convened just long enough to make three or four of the sickest metal albums of all time.

Most of my favourites have already been mentioned. Though I'm surprised no one has mentioned Disturbed.

    ditto ahaha
Just as a test to see if you like Meshuggah you can try this out. Their new song. Link only works in internet explorer though. They play eight string guitars tuned about an octave below a normal guitar... nobody else sounds quite like these guys. Its an acquire taste kind of thing though.
