The War Against Scientology
Over the past couple weeks a group of computer and social hackers declared war again the Church of Scientology. Loosely associated this group is known as 'Anonymous' and meets and plans attacks through Wikis and forums much like beyond. The War was declared after that freak video of Tom Cruise going kuu-kuu was pulled from YouTube which gained the attention of Anonymous. This war has now moved beyond the internet computer side of things and has turned political. On February 10th, 2008 Anonymous has launched 'RL' (real life) raids (protests against $cientology.
I'm preemptively posting this before it hits the main steam media tomorrow so you all can get an inside look as to what is going on.
History:
1) Tom Cruise video leaked on YouTube
2) $citology threatens to sue YouTube and other sites for hosting it
3) Anonymous declares war
4) Attacks over the internet, fax and telephone lines down Scientology offices all over the world
5) Anonymous gains media attention and being propagating internal church documents which cost 1000's of dollars for followers.
5) Anonymous plans weeks in advance for real life raids which are now occurring world wide.
Cliff Notes: The nerds are more powerful then you think. This is a revolution in the way protests occur. Drum circles and riots are a thing of the 1990's, the internet is the new front.
Toronto and Vancouver are going to be the main protest sites in Canada with 100+ protesters. Edmonton may have a smaller protest.
