That's exactly what people do when they low ball on beyond lol

    7 or 8 tops.

People who claim to do 20+ are probably not doing them properly.

I can do 1 set of about 5-6, then I have to crack a red bull. 2nd set might make it to 4 if i'm lucky.

I do 4 sets of 19 with my arms at a 18 inch(approx) width apart. I use a semi closed grip while performing them and then allow my width to decrease on the 2nd set. Keep in mind this is all done with a 2.35 minute break in between each rep with a 134ml water break at the end of each set. I usually end off my chin-up routine with a refreshing hottub session along with a Vitamin C enriched Powerade to quench my overwhelming thrist.

One set of 11 - left hand overhand grip, right hand underhand grip

Then one set of 9 - left hand underhand grip, right hand overhand grip

Width of grip is a little bit more than shoulder width...

Are you talking about pull ups or chin ups? The 'underhand grip' is called a chin up and the 'overhand grip' is galled a pull up. They focus on different muscles while hitting similar supporting muscles. Chin ups are a lot easier to do than pull ups for 90% of people. So which one are we talking about?

Chins 3x10-15 30 sec between sets.
Pulls 3x6-10 30 sec between sets.

Gauranteed most of these numbers are people either doing chin ups or doing bullshit shoulder length narrow grip pull ups. I've noticed that most people, ripped or not, can't do that many wide grip pull ups. Only once I've seen a ridiculously ripped but not huge guy hang some plates while doing them.

When I first tried it, I couldn't even do 1 rep the first couple weeks. Then I was able to do 1 good rep, then 2....and now I'm at about 12-10-8. I pull all the way up (bar at bottom of neck) but I don't extend all the way at the bottom of the pull up. Not sure if I should; it can't be good to take tension off your muscles at the end of every rep.

    .....

When I do 'wide grip pull ups' I use the very widest grip on a piece of equipment like this:

^^ (the grip that is angled down on the sides)

Once you start using your Lats youd be surprised how easy it becomes.
