Angry Try to get a house worse than mine next year... *pics*

I was actually looking forward to moving into my house next year, until some buddys passing through Kingston took some pictures of how it got handed over to us.

It's a 6 person house, which is actually an annex to an existing house. The only good thing about this is that all of us have known each other since jr high or high school. I've heard that living with your friends can turn really ugly, but oh well I guess we'll see.

At 6x$350/month, that's $2100/month, and here's what we're getting. I can't imagine anyone getting a house in worse shape. These pictures are taken AFTER the landlord got "his people to go through and fix it up."

Kitchen/Landry room (why use two rooms when one will do?):

We told them a railing was broken. Here's how they fixed it

Here's a shot of this gem from outside:

    One of the rooms....

What the fuck is wrong with it that it needs a beam holding it up?

I hope landscaping the back didn't break the bank for them...

For $2100 I sure hope you can find a better place than that. You can get a pimpin place in Calgary for that!! haha
But I am unfamiliar with the property prices out east.

Living together with your friends can make or break your friendships. You get to a see a different side of them.

I've seen MUCH MUCH worse (family owns lots of rental property).

For the money though, couldn't you shop around for something a bit better?
Ghetto places like that rent for less than half the cost of what you are paying.

Most ghetto houses at Queen's cost around the $250-350 range, and there's some $400+/month places that are marginally better.

When we picked the house it was still winter so the exterior was a lot more appealing... and a lot of the furniture that was in the house covered up all these things wrong with it.

The location is about as good as you can get though. It's right on the campus. If you were on the roof you could probably hit one of the buildings with a rock.

But yeah, for $2100/month you could buy a pretty nice house in Calgary.

wow thats high class I would love to come to the first kegger.
And hey if you break everything in the house including the house you would be out like 50 bucks...

lol, Dude you can find way better out there. I rented a 5 bedroom house in toronto for 2200.00 a month and it was a palace.

You'd be surprised at how bad 99% of the houses in the student ghetto are.

Kamen and gpomp are also at Queen's... I'd be willing to guess that their house would be in roughly the same shape (if they're in the ghetto).

Hard to believe, but this was one of the better deals we found. It's hard finding a 6 bedroom house, and most of the ones that we did find were absolute shit holes (even worse than this one, if you can picture that).

Haha, that house is horrible. Me and my roommates found our house in November so we got a pretty damn nice house IMO. Prolly one of the best in the ghetto.

    Lucky bastard

We were going to get Dano's house... it was bigger, nicer, and $250 a month, but someone got it just before we did, so we had to settle for this.

I'll post some pictures in a month or so when it's all fixed up. Maybe a few layers of paint will help.
