It will probably never be at the same caliber as in Japan. Somehow we will get screwed or not get it at all. Or maybe they will just throw a truck engine in
still pretty tight!
and behold a pale horse, and he who rode it was death, and hell followed with him...

at this point, the dealers know about as much as we do, possibly less, seeing as most car salesmen dont know jack about cars

So true, so true
"Well here's the problem. Some koot put an Acura engine in your Honda."
Wow, what a shame, the R34 was actually a nice car with a distinctive look and muscular appearance, now it is a 350Z G35 offspring that induces a MAJOR yawn. Just cause it carries a skyline name it's "sweeeeet"? Lame, very lame.
It still upholds its 'muscular appearance' IMO. Just because the G35 has been massed produced in NA where as the original Skyline models was not, the only thing that it has lost is its exclusivity which I believe has contributed to your changing attitudes on this extraordinary car.Originally posted by ZorroAMG

Shit, there's only 49 users here, I doubt we'll even break 100
Man this'll be wicked. They gotta keep it Nissan (don't label it Infiniti) AND they have to give it the (J) spec look as well. Have to make it less curvy than the 350Z & G35c and give it an aggressive front like the R34.
from what info that was released about the new GTR, I recall that they will keep it labeled under Nissan.
and something to further supplement Max_boost's statement though: skylines WERE massed produced in Japan (if you can really call it mass produced)... GTRs were not.
it's just like how the G3 teg's were produced...lots of GSs, GSRs, and a smaller amount of TypeRs.
I don't think we'd be losing any exclusivity with it being released though.
It's set for a global release, but whether or not the automarket world considers Canada as part of that global release, we will have to wait and see. Last I remember, it's slated for a north american release.
and Zephyr's estimate for the pricing of this car seems consistent with what everyone else is toting.. this car will be quite expensive :P
there are many rumours around. to find out the TRUE information you need to go look for the people who actually do know, gtr.co.uk, sdu, gtroc etc. have people on there who really do know about the new GT-R. I doubt it will look like that, or have a V8. And it will be going to the states in some form or another.

"Dear Winston:
Thank you for contacting Nissan North America, Inc. and allowing us the
opportunity to be of assistance.
Nissan is not marketing the GT-R in the United States. Basically, this
vehicle needs a great deal of modifications to pass U.S. industry
specifications on safety and emission standards. While there is no doubt
that this vehicle do attract a lot of attention and command a high demand in
the market, as is apparent in the markets in other parts of the world, the
cost of modifications far exceed the profit possibilities of introducing the
same vehicle here in the U.S.
Please contact your nearest Nissan dealer or contact a gray market retailer
nearest you. For additional information on the importation of gray market
vehicles, you can contact either the EPA or NHTSA:
EPA (202) 382-2504
NHTSA (202) 366-9550
Nissan does not recommend importing gray market vehicles due to time and
cost factors.
If you have any further questions or comments, please feel free to email me.
Sincerely,
Liana
