Exclamation Hot InaZma...hot in Japan now

Not sure if this one falls in the "holy-water-in-the-radiator" category but this thing called Hot InaZma is popular now this summer in Japan among car enthusiasts.

There is no way to know what's in the box but it is a device that is attached to the anode and cathode of the battery. It claims to increase torque in addition to the effect provided by earth cables.

    they sell 3 type:

-LR (low revs , city driving)
    -HR (high revs, sport driving)
    -MR (multi-purpose)

Car Goods Parts magazine tested it and found a fuel economy improvement of about 15% on a BMW.

Is there something similar out there that was proved to work?

    Hot InaZma

Here is a summary of the claims:

    1) Torque rise
    2) Response rise
    3) Fuel economy improvement
    4) Load decrease to Electrical equipment
    5) Reduction of audio noise
    6) Extension of battery life

    7) stabilize battery voltage

My guess is that you would maybe not feel any effect if you have a new battery, but who knows. I would guess that point some claims can't be met if you have ground cables installed but they do say that it is a complement the their HotWires cables (ground cable that they sell).

I went to the Yellow Hat today and it was selling like hotcakes..the size is about 5cm by 10 cm fyi. They had an Evo VII in the store with all the bells and whistles to demo and it was equipped with this (HR type).

you know, everyone always says that. "selling like hot cakes"

but do hot cakes really sell that well? i mean i remeber my first job years and years ago at mcdonalds and hotcakes were on the menu, but it never did sell well

so when you say they are selling like hotcakes, that means they are not selling so well?

actually I am sure no one would have understand if I said "selling like riceballs", so I used an expression people in Canada know well I think..in Quebec they say "selling like hot bread" though.

that's what I think it is, yes. If I am satistified with it, I will open it and check what's inside. (there is a sticker warning on it that opening will void the warranty)

I guess it keeps the battery power constant to 12 volts.

Cool Video of the Hot InaZma

Just for fun, I placed a little footage of the Inazma on the web. You can see the little leds flashing..pretty cool I guess at night if someone dares to sneak his nose under the hood .

I found this site that sells it in America:

By stabilizing the voltage from the battery, the load on the battery is reduced, resulting in increasing engine performance and electrical equipment. Type HR specialize sport driving and high rev. performance with increase of horsepower.
Type HR Hyper Voltage System Effectiveness and Feature:
    - Increase Horsepower
    - Better Throttle Response

Can someone try to explain how the LR, MR or HR type may "sense" the revs?

This just looks to me like a big pile of BS. I betcha if you open that thing up there's nothing of any value in it at all. It's waay too small to be an effective capacitor..
