I would have to say salt and number and length of weather cycles.
The warmer it is, the more damage can be inflicted by the salt/de-icer used by the road crews.
My buddy from Winnipeg said they used to buy cars from Ontario because they were usually in better shape
Weird go to know I had always thought toronto was the worst of them all.
Ontario uses A LOT more salt than Manitoba.
Toronto has milder temperatures combined with the humidity means they don't need to gravel and salt only. Cars in Ontario and Quebec only last about six years before they are ready for the dump. Toronto FTL!
Best place to preserve automobiles is the desert.
Toronto Winters are worse..
they use more salt.
both are bad, but Winnipeg is warmer so rust development is delayed.
Desert FTW.
Ok but now compare alberta to manitoba winters? Does undercoating solve the problem for rust development?
^generally yes...not to mention we use little to no salt.
As for Winn/Tor, Tor(ontario in general) use significant amounts of salt and yes the winters are quite warm. Add in humidity and boom...ripe for rust.

I wish Winnipeg was warmer.
Disregard what I said earlier, I got it backwards, people from Toronto buy cars from them
