Thought this was interesting and wanted to share

The Rebycyclists of Calgary, are hoping to implement a program offering all citizens of Calgary access to free bikes. There will be white bikes in downtown calgary, clearly labelled as a 'free bike'. They will be left unlocked and people will be encouraged to use them for communiting purposes.

If you have an old bike to donate please email [email protected]

We will even write the donators name on the freshly painted bike, so that you can spot your act of kindness around town.

Great idea. I've heard of something similar in other cities. It's sort of like a community bike. If you need one go look for one of these bikes, use it and then leave it for someone else to use.

Vancouver has this. I wouldn't be suprised to see them all wrecked and trashed while rusting near the drop-in center within a month.

Most of the bikes are fished out of the canals.
