Default How much is this modified Celica worth?

Can you guys give me a ball park figure of what this car would be worth? A friend of mine wants to sell it and the price that he wants to ask and what I think he should ask are different and I was wondering if some of the more knowledgeable people could narrow it down.

Is it just me, or is that car missing an engine in that picture. Is the new motor stock?

find a stock celica of the same year, add about $1000-$2000 if you find the right sucker

modding an economy car doesn't make it worth a lot more

if i had to venture a guess, i would probably say that it's worth about $28,000-$33,000 depending on if anything is less than perfect. with the right buyer who wants a widebody celica, a person could probably get $37,000.......

It totally depends on how fast he wants to sell it. Stock celica's around the same year are going for 15000-25000. He does have some work done to it but not everyone is gong to like what he has done, and the fact that it has a brand new engine and NOS will raise a lot of eyebrows as to what happened to the old engine and how the car was treated.

If he wants a quick sale put it around the 22-23k mark and I bet it will go. If he wants to wait it out till he can find a buyer that will enjoy it...well then he can get as much as he wants for it.

If he puts it back to stock, then sells it he could get 20-23k for it easily then money for all the parts.

I agree with that finboy - somewhat. Mods like this does lower the market for your car, as it's smaller. But if you find the right buyer, he/she will likely dig the extras. What people generally do is price it high (for most), and then when they get no calls on it they keep lowering the price - until someone snaps up a deal.

Personally, that car (while I appreciate it) isn't my cup of tea.

It's a nice Celica, no doubt. Very nicely done. Could do without the Lambo doors - even if I was 10 years younger. I'm glad to see there is no addition of a ridiculous adjustable wing.

I gotta think high teens, low 20s. Most GTS's have asking prices of around 15k upward. I guess it depends if your friend would be in a rush. If not, I'd price it at 24-$26k, and see if he gets any bites.

My question would be why a new engine if its a stock engine? Obviously an abused car if the engine has been blown.

    my guess: $25k

i would get rid of the lambo doors cuz not alot of people interested in to that, then over all u got a nice car. nos would scare me away as a buyer, since ur friend has it im assuming he use it

new motor and nitrous will be the main deterrent, pull the nitrous out, and hope they don't ask if its a new motor

Agreed. Personally, I wouldn't touch anything that new that's already had the motor replaced unless it was a documented warranty thing.

My opinion would be the cosmetic mods would add 10-15% to the market price over stock but the new engine issue/nitrous would subtract about 20% from that. I would pay more for a stock car than this one I think since those two things scream abuse (not saying it was, but that's the impression you get).

Honestly, i would not buy this car... the mods are not my style and the replaced motor and nitro are bad signs...

how a person wants to mod his car its really personal and everyone has different taste, but im really just not feeling it.

if i were you id try to take the car as close to stock as i can and get the proper paperwork for the engine.

I really don't know a lot about this car, or Celica's for that matter, but I believe the front end in the second picture is the stock "Tsunami Edition" front end.

Not necessarily. The GTS version engine has had longevity issues. It's fairly well documented in the Celica community. But this, combined with seeing the NOS in the back, and including the propensity for modded cars to be driven hard I would suspect you're right on the money.
