Depends on the car, and what kinda of tuning system you are using. Different people have better experience with certain cars and others know how to tune different systems. You'll need more than the stock ECU to tune properly...

it's for a 91 Civic Si with the Jackson Racing Supercharger and a ZC engine

what program are you running? are you obd0 or obd1?
mine was done by alen at speed tech but he is no longer there so go see pat at strd
OBD 0 Not sure about the tune now...I'm in the process of putting it back together.

ohh just for obdo if u dont wanna switch to obd1 just use a fmu or turbo edit works great
^ The JR kit comes with an adjustable rising rate FPR for FMU. But I think that's all that came with the kits for the D-series and B-series.
If your JR kit came with the timing adjustment knob, the FPR coupled with a VAFC should be good enough to maintain a nice flat A/F.
projekz if you don't mind me adding to this discussion right now the car has the rising rate fmu off the fpr and 2 msd boxes.
One for timing retard think it's the 6A and another that I am not sure about.
There is a timing retard knob inside the car and it is turned all the way up to retard the most.
The wiring was done very poorly and I am not that familiar with the msd boxes.
This used to run a stock d16a6 that cracked a sleeve at 167 000kms and the cylinder walls looked like they had seen quite a bit of heat.
the new motor is a sohc ZC with arp studs and a new oem tri layer metal head gasket.
the car is still obd0.
Since the person who installed the kit originally is unknown and no one else can provide details it's hard to know how those 2 msd boxes work.
If you want it dyno tuned, I would recommend switching it to obd1 with a chipped p06 ecu and running it on crome without the fmu or those msd boxes installed.
If OP keeps the current setup would throwing it on a dyno and monitoring a/f for a few runs be enough to know if the setup will last?
i have the car now, what would i gain from switching to OBD1 and a different ECU? i need to get better gas mileage out of this thing. i only get around 450/tank highway driving and thats driving nicely not using th SC.
a little help here.....
If you're switching from OBD0 to OBD1, you'll inherently get better gas mileage because you have a heated O2 sensor. Read: You'll use less gas when the engine is cold.
Tuneability is the big thing when you go to OBD1 because you have a cheap EMS that will allow you to change your A/F and timing. If fuel economy if your priority then you can tune for that.
id like to have more power and better fuel economy. is that doable??? i know its hard to have both....
also, where would i go about finding a conversion? ive looked where i thought, but couldnt find anything.
hmmmm....

The conversion is going to require distributor, 4-wire O2, and ECU as well. It's a significant amount of money considering how much the car is worth.
I've been in quite a few JR supercharged cars, and to be quite honest tuning didn't make a huge difference in power or fuel economy over the supplied FMU. IMO the upgrade isn't worth it. Your gas mileage numbers sound about right and there probably isn't that much power to safely unlock.
thanks for the heads up richard^^^thanks 1-bar. im new to honda stuff so i dont know where to find anything. so is my zc sohc engine mpfi or dpfi? guess ill need to know either way...
either way, i was hoping for better fuel economy because its my daily driver.
check on that link I posted, it says which cars used what....just gotta know where that ZC originally came from.Originally posted by 03ozwhip
