It hasn't officially lost it according to F1, they haven't made any changes to their schedule, so there is a chance that it could still be on.

THe only way they can keep it is if The government can stretch thier no tobacco promotion laws. But if they stretch it for F-1 then when will it stop.

the question is why should it stop? yes younger people are smoking bla bla bla, but IMO it goes aginst the freedom of speech. all other companys have the right to advertise except tobacco compannys? to me i just see no reason for this BS

It is not canceled. According to TSN/The Score, the Chief of F1 has released a statement rejecting those claims.

Wow, something intelligent actually came out of vsmSIR's message. Hahaha

The only difference between those and cigarette's is that AK's and Handguns are illegal to begin with.

Freedom of speech is in the first amendment of the United States. Canada has no such thing as "freedom of speech". If some of you didn’t know Canada has a socialistic system unlike the US which a democracy. Your freedoms and input into the Government are nothing like they are in the US. So basically, the Canadian government can, and will do, what they want for the most part. Just because they let one company do one thing and not let another company do another is not necessarily against any Canadian law.

"system unlike the US which a democracy" - Big Mass
Let me first state that that isn't even a sentence
Second, according to many people, including many Political Scientists, the United States isn't even a democracy anymore becasuause so little of their population votes in elections... so the fact that you said that the united states was a "democracy" could be called into question.
Third, yes, Canada does have freedom of speech, that is why racing has been allowed to have tobacoo advertising untill now, they have restictions untill now, such as it is allowed in only car racing and certain magazines, but it appears that it is being tightened.
Canada does have freedom of speech, which is why you can say "I support giving AK-47's to children" or "minorities deserve to die" it doesn't mean it's right, but we have the right to say it according to our Canadian socitey but it isn't appropriate in certain circumstances and our government doesn't allow us to say it in those said circumstances.
I don't agree with it however, I don't smoke and some race car with a sticker isn't going to make me smoke however, the fact that i can say my point of view proves that we have "free speech" and i could also go and tell my opinion to my "offical representative" and tell them what I think. If we didn't have "free speech" then I could never do that, so don't say how only the states offers "free speech"!

I'm pretty sure handguns are legal as long as they are registered... And he never said that it was against our "right" to advertise AK-47's or Handgun's regardless if they were illegal or not...

I'm pretty sure only rifles are legal to own (registered). Not sure though..

But it would be a better argument in his case if they were advertising illegal drugs like marijuana or cocaine or something.

I was just saying it's not fair to compare something like cigarette ads (nothing against the law about the subject) to illegal weapons (AK-47) ads as those wouldn’t be allowed either way....

Bigmass, I think you should start paying attention in Legal Studies class

Perhaps you should review the Charter of Rights and Freedom

Anyway, who gives a shit, the race isn't canceled.

I'd suggest you start looking into the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

Hahaah, I knew Ben would chime in.... That's why I said I wasn't sure b/c I saw your video's at the shooting range and was confused. I always thought they were illegal to own in Canada.... What are the restrictions?

Oh, something else I missed in my reply last night:

A socialist economic system has nothing to do with what rights and freedoms Canada has. In fact, many socialist countries in Europe, (and Canada) have more freedoms than the United States. But thanks for the lesson in Polisci, next time think before posting about something you obviously know nothing about.

eh, whatever. You do NOT have freedom of speech in Canada. If you think that, then you are the one that needs to think. If i was wrong about what i posted then so be it and i'll admit my mistake. I dont usually post without reading into it, but it happened.
