    Default Earth Hour

    http://www.earthhour.org/

Im not sure if this has been posted before, but check it out. Its one hour where everyone turns the power out for an hour.

There are 12+ cities allready signed up for this.

    Aalborg » Aarhus » Adelaide » Atlanta » Bangkok » Brisbane » Canberra » Chicago » Christchurch » Copenhagen » Dublin » Manila » Melbourne » Montreal » Odense » Ottawa » Perth » Phoenix » San Francisco » Suva and Lautoka » Sydney » Tel Aviv » Toronto » Vancouver »

I'll be doing it, not sure how much of a benifit it will be but anything can help. Might send a message to the large corps, because the onus should be on them.

Ghey. Won't make a difference sadly.

And everyone will be tivoing, emailing and calling like mad after the hour is up. Then power consumption will double for that hour, therefore making this pointless hahahah.
Guess who's back... tell some men.

Haha. I'm going to a concert, chilling at a lounge while watching the Flames Game. Should be a good one.

That's a LOT of toast! Go to a park and feed the pigeons after, as well, letting your car warm up for an hour, idle while feeding the birds and then idle at home for another hour to let the "turbos cool"

    LOL

People should do something more useful in that hour like switching their old lightbulbs for CFLs.

It's an empty gesture. I agree with something like changing out bulbs.
This is like a fat man who vows to stop eating shit for a day but just goes back to krispy kreme and McDonalds the next.

if all the large corporations want to really help. Turn off all those lights in the high rises downtown. There's got to be a few megawatts being consumed with all of those lights on 24/7.

I wonder why Calgary isn't in on that list yet.

I'll do it, I'll just turn off all my lights a little later, say about 12-1am?

It will make a difference in that hour for consumption, but before and afterwards won't

I wish Calgary was on that list.

We compost, vermicompost , re-cycle, freecycle, changed all our fixtures to low-watt bulbs, organic garden. Make sure the heat is down at night, no lights on in rooms we aren't in and unplug our vampire appliances. Have rain barrels and grey water save, changed to dual flush toilets as well.

We are a one car family, my husband bikes and takes transit.

We will be participating and were planning on a fire in the backyard until the fire ban was announced this morning.

Do you have any idea how much pollutants you create with a 'small fire'?
