i dont know for sure so dont quote me on this but im sure that would be illegal or at least questionable by the police.
Go to a registery and ask, they should know.
90% Sure their illegal.

yeah you'd get pulled over...all plates have to be mounted perfectly upright (this one isn't, it's bent) and horizontal (this one's vertical)...if a cop wanted to hassle you, he could...
edit: nice sig!

Illegal, But only if you ride a sportbike.
{sarcasm}Cruisers can run these all day long because they are more "socially acceptable" than sportbikes.

Bought not built!
Cool then i dont have to worry.Originally posted by kevie88

They look so much better IMO
I know American Ironhorse choppers are leagal in alberta and passed all the tests, and they have side mounted licence plates?

I was pretty sure there illegal, but I just went through the alberta highway traffic act, and i can only find that the plate has to be properly illuminated, therefore making it visible, and this is visible, provided its clearly illuminated 15m or greater when required. But don't quote me on any of that, maybe I missed something
as long as the plate is illuminated, visible and mounted horizontally you should have zero problems.
that being said anytime you make your bike/car stand out the police will just notice you more, as long as you are riding within the law there are no issues.
It's only visable on one side tho...They are illegalOriginally posted by ryder_23

I just called a cop friend of mine, and he said the plate must be visible from behind and mounted correctly. Otherwise, the officer can give you a ticket for not mounting the plate properly.
I work at pro-am, and the only way we could get AIH, Saxons, or borguets to be legal was to have a licence plate bracket installed over the fender. but as soon as we sell them first thing people do is get side mounted licence plate brackets. it is illegal but i doubt anyone will bust your balls over it...Originally posted by 3g4u

I was pulled over by the fish pigs when I was on my dirt bike, I had my plate attached to my chest protector and he said I had to have it on my bike, anywhere as long as it is visible, I cant see that making any diffrence being sideways mounted.
I got nailed at the beginning of the month > & have been wondering if it was illegal or not, cause my pay dates a commin.. lol... My plate is side mounted (left side) & vertical cause I have a integrated undertail & theres no mount spot... I was under the impression as long as it was visable you could have it there.. buuuttt... the nice police man :P (a whole other story in its own on how I got pulled over for this... grrrr *cough* ASS *cough*) lol anyways... he told me that it had to be mounted horizontal and under the rear tail light... Sooo I have been looking into this & can't find anything saying it has to be there or not... all you get when you search the vehicle control regulations I was charged under is:
Condition of licence plate
71(1) No person shall drive a vehicle if the licence plate is not securely attached in accordance with this Regulation, legible and clearly visible at all times.
So my question is where are these "regulations" wrote & where can I find out the details??
Anyways enough jammering... if I find out I'll update us all... if anyone knows... please inform
what's the violation section on your ticket say?

I don't know the section but it IS law that the plate is horizontal under the tail section and lit...amongst other things.
