Default Calgary's MLA's raise and Calgary's increase property tax

I'm a little upset by the fact that Calgary's MLA's are getting a 4.5% income raise while at the same time, considering raising the property tax by up to 10% for next year.

Most Calgarian's get 3% or less in raises and hitting us with a 10% increase in property tax does not help at all. Didn't Dave Bronc promise us a 4.5% or minimal increase to help the home-owners if he was re-elected? With the increase in gas, natural gas, electricity, etc, etc. How is the average Calgarian gonna get by when MLA's get ahead while the average person does not?

Apparently, Dave replied by saying that the city is growing too fast. If the city is growing, idn't he getting extra revenue from those people entering into this city?

MLA has nothing to do with the city. Or do you mean Alderman? 4.5% is reasonable because that's the inflation rate. Many in private sector get 7%-10%. So that's fine.

If you got 3%, it's either you already made shit load of money or you should start looking for another employer.

Property tax raise is still @ 4.5% for 2008 (I think). Double digit raise will come for 2009. I think they are anticipating growth and down fall of house prices which already started.

I did not vote for Bronco. I knew this is how he rolls. He's a waster. UK trip to get labor? STFU. What's wrong with Toronto or Atlantic provinces or even Manitoba?

BTW, the growth is hitting us hard now. We have been sprawling without infrastructure and now people are screaming for it. Which is why we should either break Calgary up into counties or start charging taxes is relation of distance to downtown to stop sprawling.
