Question RSX front wheel to rear wheel conv.

I have a 02 acura rsx base with, obviously, front wheel drive.

i got the crazy idea to convert it to rear wheel drive after the first snow storm when i couldnt fishtail down my road like i was able to do in my last car (96 trooper).

i thought i'd be a fun project, let alone giving me a 1 of a kind rsx.

even if this isn't possible, i also wanted to look into the possibility of installing the honda/acura 3.5L V6 found in the TL

    am i crazy?

i dont see why it couldnt be done, you just better be damn good at manufacturing brackets and know how to completely tear down your car to the frame and start over new. there is soooooo much you need to consider though, such as how to turn your tranny 90 degrees to connect to a drive shaft to the back wheels. but it would be cool to see.

Theres a guy in the states who made an integra mid engine rear wheel drive. It would be quite an extensive process...definately not something you would want to do to a car you drive...this isnt a weekend project for sure. Would be one of a kind tho

theres a guy in calgary with a dodge intreped with a blown 350 in it... so if he could covert that to rear, prolly beable to covert a RSX to RWD...get the drivetrain from an S2K and work that drivetrain into it so then your still sticking with honda engines!!

    Something like this?

If you're going to do something that crazy, I think converting a 04-08 TL would be a better idea.

WOW I did not see that white integra before. I saw some grey p.o.s on honda tech. It was horrible. That white integra is sexy ass

    Default rwd swap

    well if you wanted to go rwd there are a few things to think about;
    options:
    1) Make a mid engine setup similar to what was posted above (very costly, time consuming and not all that practical)
    2) Source out a rwd trans that would mate to your car's engine, possibly out of another honda model maybe s2000 or a prelude. Other options would be a rwd from a small car possibly a modified miata rear end.
    2) You would need to fab custom motor mounts/mounting points, fab a trans tunnel, cut and modify the firewall to fit the trans in, change the wiring harness to fit the modified engine postion, change the shifter hole to suit the new shifter position.Change the rear struts/mounts to accomodate the new setup. More than likely stiffen the rear end to handle the new setup that means bracing the whole sheet metal rear end.

I swapped a fwd to a rwd, I did it with a 90 cavalier z24. I dropped it onto a chopped and dropped chevy s-10 chassis and had a 350 V8 engine in it with a ford 9" rear end. It took me 4 mths of fabrication work (thats 8 hours a day 6 days a week) including roll cage and wiring, as well as fabbing and installing custom header and exhaust. Outside looked like a stock z24, under the hood was a different matter. When I moved from NL to calgary I sold it and the kid that bought it wrapped it around a light pole a week later.
Bottom line is that anything is possible, just be smart about how you source the parts, seek experienced ppl who know what they are doing, and plan the build extensively prior to starting. That includes the down time and the parts car that you are getting the stuff you need from. Its all a matter of time and money after that.
Life is to short for BS
