    1. What are you riding.
    2. Favourite trails around town
    3. Tips/Tricks
    4. Possible Beyond Mountain Bike Excursion?

    1. Currently Bikeless
    2. Rode the Weaslehead/Res area daily years ago. Canmore Nordic Centre, and some trails around Banff.
    3. Always bring a bear bell.

I am a lifelong Specialized guy who has outgrown my old school Hard Rock. It had Judy XC Long Travel up front which I adored.

It is time for a new rig. Currently looking at spending 800-1,200. Hard tail only. Been out of the bike scene for a few years... Any insight?

    1. 2007 Rocky ETSX-70
    2. Jumping Pound Ridge. Amazing views, fairly easy ride.
    3. Bonking is really bad, carry a couple of extra energy gels, and if you are on a long ride they do come in handy.

    WICKED THREAD!!!

1)Bike for this year is my Giant Faith, still dont have the 5000$ for the new glory.... gonna run the avid juicy 7's this year..

    2) For my XC trail that i run my specialized hardtail on are mostly in fish creek, if we do a group ride this year, i have a great 22K ride that runs the majority of the southwest of fish creek. great ride! For the DH, im seasons passing at COP and fernie this year but i will be a regular guest at panorama, kicking horse, silverstar and hopefully get to whistler again this year.

    3) my only tip is when you eat shit, tuck and roll baby!!! and carbon fibre knuckle gloves= life saver!

    4) always down for the riding adventures!

If anyone is looking to start riding or to brush up on their skills, get the book " mastering mountain bike skills" by brian lopes and/or get the DVD "fundamentals".. those are the 2 best biking tools i have ever used!!!!

I rode all winter...gotta love the Moose mountain gravel road. I would ride that to the parking lot from the highway. Great way to keep in shape through the winter.

    1. 07 Specialized Stupmjumper Pro - WITH Crossmax SL wheel set. Oh man...best ever.

    2. Everything, moose, coxhill, powder, big elbow loop etc.

    3. Tip - be VERY careful riding through puddles/ruts in the early spring, they can be really tricky...ice on the bottom, water melts from the top down. Fell HARD a couple weeks ago while riding through a puddle about 3 inches deep.

Jelly beans work the best for me for longer rides. I usually pack 30-40 in my pack and eat about 10 an hour. Of course, water.

I am always down for a group ride, let me know when and where!

    1. 07' Kona Volcano Ridge

    2. Haven't done much trail riding, use it more for commuting to and from the c-train. Though I would love to get into trail riding this season.

    3. I am too much of a "rookie" to have tips

    4. I would love to do a beyond bike excursion, I just hope I would be able to keep up!

    1. 2006 .243 hardtail, 4" sherman jumper, dual 24"s, brakeless (for now)
    2. I pretty much only ride at millenium, or street downtown.
    3. No footer - get decent air, take your feet off, and put em back on. key is to look down at your pedals so you can see where to put your feet back.
    4. sure. As you can see I dont really "mountainbike", im closer to bmx. This summer i'm hoping to build up a 5-6" travel dualie and ride some trails, in fernie, moosemtn, etc.

Nice Thread! I was wondering when a mountain biking one was going to appear now that we are starting to hit some decent weather

    1. 06 Specialized Enduro Elite, 04 Rocky Mountain Element 50
    2. Usually ride Fish Creek as I live very close to it and it's easy to go after work and get some singletrack in
    3. I 2nd the above tip about bringing a hyrdation pack! Perfect for drinking water, and also carrying some food along with the biking essentials, tube, pump, cellphone, keys, money etc.
    4. Not sure about some possible excursions. Some out of town ones would be nice to ride, like minnewanka, maybe elbow loop. In town there is a fair amount to ride and maybe easier to set up a group ride within the city.

I need some opinions on the new specialized enduro SL's. Anybody have experience or know of someone who has ridden one? I was considering buying one, but I'm not entirely convinced by the completely proprietary suspension.

You may want to do some seraching on the mtr (mountain bike reviews) messages boards http://forums.mtbr.com

They have a manufacturer section where they have a board devoted to specialized bikes. You can find alot of good info here about people of who first hand knowledge of owning an Enduro SL.

Have you considered the Specialized Pitch? It's very similiar to the Enduro SL, but without the proprietary front and rear suspension.
