    Default Getting Speeding Tickets Reduced

So was pulled over on deerfoot going 131 in a 100. I have my trial date or whatever you call it next week. I want to get my $187 ticket reduced or dermerits not taken off but I heard you can't ask for no dermerits to be taken off?

What excuses can you use or have used that works.

    Thanks

If you are a student, say you don't have money to pay for it, that has worked for almost all my buddies who got a speeding ticket, or say you were high

they can lower the demerits but not wipe it off completely, just set a trial date and discuss with the crown.

They might reduce the fine if you talk to the crown or JP but didn't they stop lowering demerits altogether?

    YES

I had my ticket lowered from 4 points to 2. My ticket price was lowered from $264 to $172. Oh and I should add its not registered as a speeding ticket anymore

So I talked to the crown today, got my $187 ticket reduced to $124 and from 4 dermerits to 3 dermerits (going 31 over is 4 dermerits off, and 30 over is only 3 dermerits off). Kinda fishy how it happened to just be 31 km/h over and not 30kn/h. Worth my 1 1/2 hour wait.

Fellow beyonders, thanks for your help and advice

Here's what i did for my speeding ticket today, I got the same treatment as ryeguy252...

Got in, sat with the Crown. She explain some additional details on my ticket. I explained why I speed. Then she showed me which bracket I was in, in terms of speeding penalties. (29km/h over = $225 + 4 demerits)

She then proceed to say "Here's what I can do for you.", and said she can only bump it down to one bracket down to $124 + 3 demerits. She went on with explaining possible insurance implications, and how to get rid of the demerits through defensive driving courses.

At the end, I accepted and paid for my ticket there. So the conclusion is, the following post regarding the new policy is not as strict as it might sound.
