Question Widebody for my RX-7??? Need Help

Ok, so I have a 1993 RX-7, and was thinking of getting a widebody kit for it (fenders, quarters, bumpers, skirts, spoiler, hood) I was wondering if the installation and painting of this is just not going to be worth it? Does anyone know how much it will cost to get a widebody kit installed roughly?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

hop on rx7club.com and search there, there have been a couple veilside kits done and documented on that forum.... not a cheap mod.

There also the Amemiya kit and FEED kit to look at. The kits alone would cost around $5000 for the originals or $3500 for the knock offs. Installed my best guess would be $5-8g on top of the price of kit.

Yah, then you'll want to tack on another 8g for paint.

I would say budget 10G for the setup all together.

bodywork is nothing to cheap out on... do it right the first time, or don't even bother doing it at all...

a widebody setup done right and tastefully looks so money... do it cheap and with shortcuts, and I'll guarantee it'll look like @ss...

factor in wider wheels for better stance, and it ends up costing a whole pile of dough...

    both of these apply:

'you gotta pay to play' and 'you get what you pay for'...

believe me when i say, your better off having the money saved up for a body kit reserved for the engine when it goes. Theres no point in having a widebody when your motor shits out. I had a fellow beyond member, who actually posted in this exact thread tell me the same thing, and it was the best peice of information I have ever recieved

Well, another option is just fender flares. You can have them bolt on or molded in. I think they give you more of that raw track car look.

But the REAL reason for a wide body/fender flares isn't for look but to run wider wheels. Be prepared for some wide ass wheels and tires and crazy offsets.

You should budget out another $5000 for wheels and tires because you should at least run some 10-12 inch wide rims and I don't think any company makes replicas or cheap wheels that wide.

This car is SWEEEEET. I'd go down on a guy to have that car.

Ok... no, I wouldn't. But the car is still super sweet.

good luck on that too haha. Just being a kid your going to get neither the 20b or a widebody on an fd unless your daddy likes forking over upwards of 20 grand for an engine. The 20b swap has been documented many times on rx7club.com and unless you do everything....and i stress EVERYTHING yourself you'll still pay close to 10 grand with all the parts. Pettit racing in flordia charges very close to 30 or a little over 30g's for that swap and other shops probably close to as much. I dunno how much rx7 specialties would charge out here for that but people barely want to go there for a regular 13b engine so going for a 20b swap could end up costing a hell of alot. Before you jump down my throat i have owned a 7 before and although just an fc it was still a pricey car.

All I'm saying is do preventative maintenance and basic safety mods to the 13b you have and it should last you then consider possibly just having your engine rebuilt decently with possibly some ceramic coated rotors and apex seals and you should be golden.

if you ever do go wide body get your wheels first this way when you install the kit it can be flush with the wheels instead of guessing your offset later and just getting the fitment close

thats a sin...although it's sweet to see there is still nothing better than the sound of a nicely tuned rotory powered engine winding up to upwards of 10000 rpm. I miss the smile mine used to bring me haha. Don't get nearly the same pleasure out of my civic....I got a car newer by 8 years and I still feel like I downgraded quite intensely from my rx7.

Seriously I don't see why people don't just spend the money and time to properly build a nice 13b versus just waiting for them to blow up or spending huge amounts of money on the body....waste of money. FD with a nice set of rims a decent drop and a nice lip with a tweaked engine is just amazing.

One of the best looking japanese cars ever.
