CALGARY - A national food store chain that caters primarily to Asian customers has received the highest fine ever levied in Alberta for food violations at its two Calgary locations.

T & T Supermarket, five of its managers and a specialist received just over $36,000 in penalties after pleading guilty on Wednesday to 31 charges under the Public Health Act.

Infractions ranged from storing foods at improper temperatures, to unsanitized conditions, to not properly cleaning knives, sinks and other food preparation areas.

    Woah, that's fucked up.

I wonder if anyone got sick unknowingly because of it.

"When you come to Canada you comply with Canadian law," said O'Neill. "If you don't like it, get out of the business."
    Haha, that's a harsh statement.

Calgary is so much like an iphone: iCalgary - There's a bylaw for that.

I don't think so, especially when it comes to health and public safety, you better abide by the mofuggin rules.

"In Asian culture, it is custom for poultry to be displayed at room temperatures, because it retains its flavour," he told the judge."

"Such foods must be kept at four degrees Celsius or less in a cooler or above 60 degrees in a holding unit. "

That's one of the problems... seems pretty normal to me. A few places in Chinatown had to shutdown temporarily because of that.

It's just the way it is in Asian countries. The health rules are just different, even in the article they state that Australia would even allow foods to be stored at room temperature.

Are our immune systems here weaker than other countries? It seems other countries seem to do fine doing the same practices.
