    Default Good VW mechanic?

    Hey everyone,

I brought my dads transporter down because it needs work done on it and we've had one hell of a time with some VW mechanics.

Does anyone have a VW mechanic that they would recommend?

I've heard tuned dubs is good, but this is a diesel van, and the idea of taking it to a tuner shop seems wasteful.

    Thanks!

    Default Tune Dub

I would call and ask George about it. (403 - 238-8633) www.tunedub.ca. Even if he cant do anything for you he will be able to help. I am a huge fan and have all the work done on my 2002 VW Jetta 1.8T done there.

Tundub isn't just a tuner shop, they do everyday average stuff too.

They're certainly big, but I don't know if they are the BEST I've tasted.

Tunedub for Audi or VW, I wouldn't even bother looking anywhere else. Amazing service and prices.

For a van, and especially for a diesel, I would say Tony's Auto Service is your best bet.

hey everyone, thanks for the replies!

Like I said I've booked an appointment to diagnose what exactly is the problem on the van, and will go from there on what/where by getting quotes.

If you guys would like I can go into detail about how bad some vw dealerships treat their customers, but I think i'd start a new thread. Or pm.

George at Tunedub has got to be the most honest mechanic I've ever met.

The fact the majority of the replies have been for George from TuneDub shouldn't be a coincidence. He does great work, and most importantly, he is forthright, polite and transparent.

I've had issues with many types of Stealerships and it's a welcome change to have a trustworthy and competent mechanic.

i've taken my GTi 337 (25th anni) for all it's work there.

George at Tune Dub has a great rep... If you wanna make a drive out to Red Deer or are from around there, Chris from Das Auto Haus is also amazing and has a wicked reputation and following as well...

Bump from the dead for a good shop to do pre-purchase inspection on a VW. I called tunedub, and they told me it would be a two week wait to get in for an inspection. That's not really going to work.
I know those "german car specialists" say they do VW as well. Just wondered if anyone had a reccomendation specific to VW that might be able to get me in within a couple of days.
