Default Vacuum Leak / Smoke machine

Been having a nightmare of a time finding where my vacuum leak is. I know that Sheni has a smoke machine but he is booked pretty solid right now. Also called BMW Calgary/Gallery and they aren't booking till June 12.

Anyone know another shop with one? Or a good way of finding a leak??

    Thanks

Spray propane into engine bay, if RPMS go up, you found your leak

Well imagine if instead of writing that letter to the editor, she just posts on a car forum for car enthusiasts. That's Kritafo.

spray carberator cleaner wherever ur leak may be (sp?) and the rpm will dip.

spray it around your intake manifold gasket.

it might be your intake elbow area.
check for any cracks inbteween the rubber elbow and all gaskets in the intake system. you can generally hear a "HISSSS" sound.

theres a couple hoses underneath your intake manifold as well. might want to check those.

My money is on the intake elbow... If you haven't replaced it in the last 5 years, that's probably it --you need to take it off to inspect it. $39 from Calgary BMW.

would the intake elbow cause me to loose pressure under boost? I'm running 4psi (with poor idle) and i should be running 8psi

Well, you didn't mention it's running a turbo, but if the stock intake elbow is still being used with the turbo kit, I'd definitely take it off and inspect it, since it would be under alot more pressure that normal.
