the 3.5 would have more aftermarket support and I expect that to grow with the J swap becoming more of a mainstream swap in our community these days.

That might be a cool swap but the wiring might be a bit scary :P

Thanks for the kind words guys I appreciate it

hahahah don't worry Etienne I doubt I will ever put you through that in the legend after the transmission hehe. I'd be willing to pay to have my headgaskets done rather than swap hehe.

    What's next on your civic?

Finish building this engine I've been talking about for 6 months lol

So the Del Sol is almost done it went from this:

    To this:

    To this:

It still needs fluids, a bit of wiring in the cabin, the shift linkage to get installed and she will be good to go

I think "3.5" was in referrence to the C35a from the 96-04 RL not a J35x... a J would be cool though if it could be mated up to the Legend transmission

hahaha dunno why everyone keeps suggesting swap haha. If I ever had the time or money to put another engine in the legend I would probably spend the money to get another fc rx7 instead hehe. Headgaskets I would pay for...Maybe a few little parts to boost power a bit...But the Legend will never ever get a swap haha.

Although it'd probably be easier than the tranny was.

That delsol is looking good. Always wanted one of those, you have a removable top plus an excuse to not be a taxi for your friends due to the lack of a back seat hehe.

How long did the swap in the Sol take out of curiosity?

The swap itself is fairly straight forward and takes about 10 hours from the time you jack up the car to the time you throw fluids into the new motor.

What takes a while is converting from auto to manual. The pedals probably took about 3-4 hours by themselves, another 1-2 hours for all the lines in the engine bay since they only go in one way and I wanted to reuse all factory clipping points.

I also removed the entire a/c system and cruise control to clean up the bay.

Some wiring is also needed for the backup switch and the clutch switch as well as a plate to cover the auto shifter hole and a couple holes drilled thru the tunnel to hold the shift linkage in place.

I even replaced the rear engine mount with one at pick n pull since it was ripped and I didn't want the owner to have issues with the shifter popping out of gear.

Oh and I changed the timing belt and water pump for new OEM pieces while the B was out.

Should be nice and reliable and feel like it came stock as a manual by the time I'm done

So got a bit of time to work on the Del Sol, also got all the rest of the parts needed to finish it last night.

She fired right up, the backup light switch auto to manual fix worked flawlessly and the clutch switch works well also.

She also purrs like a kitten and was not throwing any codes at all.

The last thing I need to test is VTEC to make sure the knock sensor D3 connector works fine and she will be good to go

Pics of the final product tomorrow.

hey ekguy, did you headgasket blew, is that why you are looking for a new head of are you just looking for an upgrade in general? sorry if i missed it eariler in the thread.

to be honest, there's nothing "sporty" about the legend. It's neither powerful nor agile in the corners. Just drive/love it for what it is.

I am just looking for a new head. I still drive the car a couple times a week. Not completely ready to put it to rest for winter. And I know it's definitely not agile or super fast but it's quick for what it is. If I could add a bit more hp I'd be satisfied with it.

I'm still sorta trying to sell it. I wouldn't mind getting into something rwd again. Miss my rx7.

I do do my own work but for this one I can't cause I don't have air tools. I tried installing my brothers k sports with him using a wrench and it was impossible to move a bolt. Im mechanically inclined, i just dont have the tools to do work with. Oh well, just another thing for my christmas list

Whats going on with that intake?? Does it not need a filter? Or is that it?

It's a velocity stack, the filter will go on the end of it but the owner just wanted to throw it on this way before adding the filter when he gets home.
