Default Talisman - good place to work?

I got an offer for a job offer at Talisman (accounting job) and wanted to know what people thought of the company, perks, culture, etc. Word on the street is that they are a good employer but wanted to get more opinions.

Didn't they just lay off a lot of people? How are they offering jobs?

Having a dozen too many HR people and 3 too many geologists doesn't help you fill an accounting job.

It's true, you'd need four geologists to do the work of one accountant. But that only works if you can get them to stop doing the journal entries in pencil crayon.

I hear they kick ass as a company, even one of the geo's that recently got laid off (probably they were looking for a way to cut his sorry emo ass anyway...but I digress) still thinks it's an awesome company.

    my friend works there

sounds more like a drama filled non working place than an actual office
You can technically get a ticket for each window that's illegally tinted. So as above, if you're being an ass to the officer (or if he's just an ass to begin with), he can give you two. (or three tickets if you're dumb enough to tint the windshield of your BMW... but if you own a BMW you can't be stupid right?)

They buy lots of vehicles from us so I'm sure if you play your cards right you could be driving one courtesy of them someday.

I currently work there, PM me if you have any specific questions.

Overall, I enjoy it there. Saving plans, stock options, fitness subsidy, flex days, etc are all pretty good.

There is a bunch of beyonders there. Most would agree it's a good place to be.

That sounds like every office I've ever worked in... they become such toxic playgrounds after awhile...

Depends, in offices it's there if you go looking for it. I kept my nose out of a lot of the drama when I worked in the office.
