Good place to get keys cut for our newer cars?
Hey guys, just wondering where is a good place to get keys cut. I assume we all the same (built in) remote fob type keys. I called up several locksmith companies and emailed them pics, and nobody (as of so far) was willing to touch these.
I enjoy having a virgin ass, so I'd prefer not to go to a stealership as I know they'll charge a mint to do create new ones.
This is for a Z4 BTW, if that makes any difference

Do you even have a choice not to go to a dealership, given that the key is likely chipped?

^ yeah I know, Just seeing if there is a possibility of anybody else that I dont know of; that may potentially do this.

I'm guessing that since the chip is a security feature, that BMW will be the only ones that will be able to provide you with one...

Yeah, the locking mechanism for each car is matched to the VIN #, so all the new keys have to come from Germany. Not only do you have to pay for the key, you get to fork out for shipping too (though, as the Z's come from South Carolina, maybe your key won't come from as far away....).
You'll need to prove you own the car to order the key, so take your registration and ID in with you.
