holy crap, that sounds alot for just replacing speakers, are you doing any special work like installing new components in the front, running an amp or anything like that? or is it just replacing the speakers?

that really seems like a lot to install speakers and run lines, so that's just for labour only, no materials at all?

wow!!! so much $$...especially in a civic its a piece of cake.
Best buy of FS will do it for:
    $60-80 4 chan amp
$100ish for Components assuming they will have to cut your panel for the tweeters and build a wood spacer for mounting depth.
    $40 Rear

Not saying that i reccommend them, just letting your know who ever quoted you that much is off his/her rocker!

Pretty useless installer then if its a "piece of cake"

i can get it done in under 40 minutes but it is tough. the entire rear end has to come off including seats, rear quarter panels, and rear deck.

front speakers are fairly easy but you need an air saw to cut the plastic out behind the factory speaker because its so shallow.

other then that everything is pretty straight forward as long as you have all the wiring (60ft of speaker wire, and 2 sets of rcas, and obviously power/ground/remote)
