Default Anyone suffering from slow Shaw internet in the NW?

I'm in Citadel and for the past week or more our high speed Shaw internet has been anything but high speed. Downloads and online chatting is terrible compared to what I've been used to over the last five of more years with Shaw. Are they having issues?

Nothing here down the hill from you. Maybe your modem is the problem?

PM me the HFC MAC ID off your modem and I can check your modem's signal, along with traffic graphs for your node.

(I can't see any personal information besides your IP address, traffic stats, nothing interesting...)

I'm in the SW and for the past week while surfing the internet the pages load ridicilously slow. Downloading is pretty fast though. I don't get it.

I'm a contractor for shaw. I heard they had a transformer go down mid week last week, and the back up didn't work. Although this is just word of mouth, and I have no idea what was affected.

I'm confident shaw knows of the problem and is working on fixing it.

Has anyone called in? my shaw internet is working great in the SE

I'm North of downtown... and my service has been on and off for the last few months - brand new modem too.

Sometimes it will either slow to a crawl or simply be gone for about 5 minutes and suddenly come back again. Frustrating.

HeavyD, do you have an unsecured wireless router? Maybe your neighbors are using your connection for torrents.

Don't be a pussy, msg me the HFC MAC ID off your modem. Or call 310-SHAW and get the tsr1 lackey to look at your modem stats, and book a free servicecall if there's bad signal or errors. Otherwise, keep guessing... or STFU

I had speeds that were prettymuch in the dialup ballpark from shaw, coincidentally about 2 days after I upgraded to the Xtreme package. I called probably about 10 times over a period of a month and a half, and their story went from "there doing a node split, should be fine in a couple weeks" to "well we did a node split last year but your internet works fine, your computer is the problem (and trust me with multiple systems on win and linux, and connecting straight to the modem there was no way, problem is the shaw support tech wouldnt be able to understand that). Then a couple weeks later they admitted that there was a problem and a little bit after that i was crusing along at 10mbps. And they did give me free internet for that time, but still a huge pissoff, especially when you dont have cable and pay to download everything from the net.

FYI, if your modem is offline (your sb5100 doesn't have four solid green lights) I can't see any stats. You'll have to call in...
