Default LF: engineering job. anyone can help? please?

okie, i have been sending some resumes and answering some emails but it seemed that there isnt any results at all. I was thinking if the people at beyond could give me a hand in hooking me up with their company.

i will be moving over to calgary from Singapore in Jan/Feb 2009 armed with a bachelor degree in electrical engineering, specialising in communications( telecom, wireless comm, etc). I hope to practise engineering in Calgary and am ok with engineering that is of other disciplines( O&G, mechanical etc)

i know its a bit early to look for a job now since its only just June but i thought it might be great if i can secure something now as the employment pass would need some time to be processed.

i am not really fussy about the pay and is negotiable while lodging and transportation is easily settled as i will be living in hamptons.

i have work experience in technical sales, lab work, military, teaching,am a jovial guy, hardworking and definitely a team player.

do help me if you have any contacts or am able to help me personally. Need all the help i can here. Upon checking with APEGGA, they said that all i need to do is to apply as the degree i am arming myself with is recognised in Alberta.

I'm open to other industries eg. finance, banking etc also.
    Anyone?

check with some of the oil companies or engineering firms around town... there are a lot of them.

i work as a summer helper (damn being a poor student) at jacobs engineering... all their jobs are online and you can apply online... might be a place to start

How many threads are you going to start regarding this subject??? Do a search for companies that are in the field that you are interested in.

I doubt anyone on here is going to recommend someone that they have never met.

    ^^ haha

While you might have thought this was a good idea ... I'll ask you to put yourself in the shoes of the people you're asking for help. Would YOU refer someone in another country you've never met before?

Also check if your education is good here. I know some friends whose parents came here from the Philippines and their education meant jack shit. I am going to put good money in that your education doesn't mean anything to companies here. Also most of you're engineering jobs here are going to be oil and gas related here, and while you said you are ok with other disciplines, companies are not. They like you to be a little more specialized in what you do, IE your best chance is in the electrical field.

I have a feeling it's the reason above. Usually it is pretty easy to find engineering jobs here, but also in this business, it is all in who you know to get somewhat of a decent job out the boot. Hope you find something, but I can see you having to go to school here.

okie thanks for all the replies here. if anyone could help, that would be really great. There's no need to create any flaming in here.

anyway spoons, the school is recognised by APEGGA. Anyone the school that i'm in, isnt any dubious school.
