True, my dad has the KDL40XBR4, pretty nice as it has I think a glass frame but I dooz not want to spend $2500+ on just tv, need to spend a lil on speakers and etc...but thanks for the suggestion

for that price i think toshiba's ur best bet, unless you don't mind getting older models

today my friend bought a 42" toshiba for $13xx, and he also saw older sharp and sony's for around that price

visions is the place to go for tv's i think, much more negotiable

that's probably the one, it's for his grandmother

he himself bought a 46" xbr4, another friend bought a 52" d94u, and they all got their tv's there because the original friend bought 4 tv's there all at once, so it made the prices that much easier to negotiate
he and another friend also got the onkyo 5.1 set for 300, and another friend got a slightly higher end one for 500

    your mileage may vary

    Great TV for everything.

If you're lucky you can still find a 37" Aquos at BB or FS for like $1000 approx.

LG makes some good screens as well. for your size you will most likely only need a setup for 720p rather then full 1080

You can pickup a 37" Aquos for less than 1000 at Visions.

Visions on Macleod sold me the TV in my living room 2 weeks ago for about 950. It's the 720p Aquos model.

Buy Sharp or Samsung. I have the Sharp, the only thing I hate about it is how god damn slow the channels change. Everything else is fantastic.

So I've narrowed it down to these 2 TV's...gonna go 2morrow and pick one up, please help me decide..

    Sharp 42" AQUOS 720p LC42D43U $988

    http://www2.visions.ca/catalogue/cat...1=5&parentId2=''&parentId3=''&menuLevel=2

    Or

$1299 but since The Brick.com is selling for $998 they will price match and beat

    Toshiba 42" Flat-Panel LCD HDTV 42AV500U

    http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...gon=&langid=EN

This same Toshiba at Bestbuy is $1199

So which one should I get?

I would probably get a Toshiba Regza 42rv530u for $1250 @ absounds if you were going to get the Toshiba at Bestbuy. Solid features with native 1080p and seems to be getting good reviews. It's a relatively new model so you won' know much about long term reliability or issues.

or you can price match it to get it down to $1225 at Futureshop:

But is it worth the extra $200-300 to get that just to get 1080p?Like I said before, I'm using this mainly for PS3 and Blu-ray movies, I've been using a CRT TV for a few years now and I prolly wont be getting a HDTV reciever for a few years...

the 1080p is only useful for TVs larger then 42'' IMO

the definition on anything 42 and smaller isnt very noticable so i would save yourself the money and get the 720p/1080i
