Try CIL, or Sico paint from Rona (no, it's not acutal "Rona" branded paint).

    Best, but expensive!

    how about rona?
Go to benjamin moore, they have locations all over the place. If you're like me you will hate painting. By going with a good quality paint it limits the amounts of coats you'll need.

Benjamin Moore has good stuff as does General Paint. I'll warn you though.....good paint is not cheap.

I absolutely hate CIL and wont use it.

I'd go with Behr... If you're looking for consumer paint.

If you want to pay a bit more but get better paint, go to a specialty paint place where they have people who don't work their next shift in the garden aisle.

Home Depot carries Behr which is what we went with. The rollers you use make a huge difference as well as to how many coats you'll need.

I always get my paint from Cloverdale... it's really good quality... if you get cheap paint, you get streaks and often have to paint multiple layers.. Cloverdale paint is almost good on the first coat (although I still like doing two coats, and primer). and it's easy to clean too.

the last two homes I built, the contractors were also using cloverdale.

Are your walls smooth or semi-smooth? Is your paint eggshell, satin, semi-gloss finish, etc?

We had an eggshell finish interior paint and my boyfriend grabbed this and they picked up more paint from the walls than I was painting on.

We ended up going back to Home Depot and grabbing this other brand (I think it was Shur Line?) which was the same cost per roll but it worked a lot better as a one coat only roller. It was white, felt a lot more plush even with the same nap size/length and it didn't leave any little fibers behind.

Like Kritafo said, use a good primer first!

I've tried quite a few different brands of paint for our new house.

Trust me, save yourself the pain and hassle and stick to either Behr or Benjamin Moore!!!!

To get rid of the fluff that can come out of the roller sleeve when new, you can either take it out with a piece of tape like you would getting lint off a shirt, or soak it in water then put the roller on a waterproof surface (like your shower stall) and give it a very quick roll and hold away from the wall so that it spins the water out (this will get you wet, so stand to the side)

A 10 or 15mm thick roller will do, any smaller and it'll be a pain, and thicker and you can leave a lot of paint, although no matter how thick it is you can cheat and just keep rolling it until the roller is really dry, which will leave the hairs seemingly short.

The best way I can explain it is to get the wall to look like the texture of rice paper. When you do your "finishing" roll, do it as lightly as you can downwards, this should leave the texture as being from the hairs passing over it, not the hairs pushing it around.

    just one question,..

is the paint toxic? i had a window open but still painted for about 9 hrs without a mask or anything
Assuming you used latex, no it's not toxic. I wouldn't recommend drinking it or anything but you'll be fine. You'll probably still be able to smell it for a few days thought. Actually, it may be even longer due to our current humidity levels. It's fine though.
